User Manual

Model: NX-P

1. Introduction

The Nektar NX-P expression pedal is designed for robust performance in both studio and live environments. Its durable construction and thoughtful features ensure reliable control over various electronic instruments. The pedal features rubber gripping to maintain stability during use and includes a polarity switch for broad compatibility with a wide range of keyboards and other controllers that require expression pedal input, such as the Nektar Pacer.

2. Key Features

  • Universal expression pedal compatibility.
  • Designed to work with most expression pedal sockets.
  • Equipped with rubber feet for secure floor-grip during performances.
  • Features a rubber upper contact surface for enhanced grip and control.
  • Includes a Sensitivity Potentiometer for fine-tuning response.
  • Integrated Polarity Switch ensures compatibility with all keyboards and devices.

3. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your Nektar NX-P Expression Pedal:

  1. Connect the Pedal: Locate the 1/4 inch (6.35mm) TRS audio jack on your Nektar NX-P pedal. Connect this cable to the expression pedal input on your keyboard, synthesizer, or other compatible electronic device.
  2. Position the Pedal: Place the pedal on a stable, flat surface. The integrated rubber feet are designed to prevent slipping during use.
  3. Adjust Polarity (if necessary): On the underside of the pedal, you will find a polarity switch. If the pedal does not function correctly or behaves inversely (e.g., maximum expression when heel-down), toggle this switch to the alternate position. This ensures proper communication with your specific device.
  4. Set Sensitivity: The NX-P features a sensitivity potentiometer, typically located on the side of the pedal. Adjust this knob to fine-tune the range and responsiveness of the expression control to match your playing style and the requirements of your instrument.

4. Operating Instructions

Once connected and configured, the Nektar NX-P pedal allows for dynamic control over various parameters on your electronic instrument. The pedal operates by translating the physical movement of your foot into a continuous control signal.

  • Expression Control: Press the pedal forward (toe-down) to increase the controlled parameter (e.g., volume, wah effect, pitch bend). Pull the pedal back (heel-down) to decrease the parameter.
  • Sensitivity Adjustment: Use the sensitivity pot to fine-tune the range of the pedal's movement. If you desire a wider or narrower range of effect within the physical travel of the pedal, adjust this knob accordingly.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Nektar NX-P Expression Pedal, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the pedal regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but ensure the pedal is completely dry before storage or next use. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If transporting, consider using a padded bag or case to protect it from physical damage.
  • Cable Care: Avoid sharply bending or kinking the attached cable. When coiling the cable for storage, do so loosely to prevent internal wire damage.
