4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation and Charging
To install the battery, align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio and slide it upwards until it clicks into place. To remove, press the release latch at the bottom of the battery and slide it downwards.
Before first use, fully charge the battery. Place the radio (with battery installed) into the desktop charger. The charger indicator light will show charging status. Ensure the battery is securely seated in the charger.

4.2 Antenna Attachment
Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control
To power on the radio, rotate the volume knob (top-left) clockwise. To power off, rotate it counter-clockwise until it clicks. Adjust the volume by rotating the same knob.
5.2 Frequency and Channel Mode (VFO/MR)
The radio operates in two main modes: Frequency Mode (VFO) and Channel Mode (MR). Press the VFO/MR button to switch between these modes. In VFO mode, you can manually input frequencies. In MR mode, you can select pre-programmed channels.
5.3 Programming Channels

5.4 Push-to-Talk (PTT) Button
The large button on the left side of the radio is the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button. Press and hold this button to transmit, and release it to receive.

5.5 VOX Function (Voice Operated Transmission)
The VOX function allows for hands-free transmission. When activated, the radio will transmit automatically when it detects your voice. Refer to the user manual for detailed steps on enabling and adjusting VOX sensitivity.
5.6 1750Hz Burst Tone
This tone is used to access certain repeaters. Press the BAND button while transmitting to send the 1750Hz burst tone.
5.7 Monitor Channel
Press the MONI button (SK-side key2) to temporarily disable the squelch and listen to weak signals or monitor the channel for activity.
5.8 Keypad Lock
To prevent accidental changes to settings, you can lock the keypad. Press and hold the # key to toggle the keypad lock on or off.
