5. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation of the Tectite FSBBOXWMWH Washing Machine Outlet Box.
5.1. Preparation
- Turn off the main water supply to the area where the outlet box will be installed.
- Drain any remaining water from the pipes.
- Determine the desired mounting location. The box can be mounted to the left or right of a stud.
- Cut an appropriate opening in the wall for the outlet box. Ensure sufficient space for pipe connections.
5.2. Mounting the Box
- Position the outlet box in the wall opening. The box features mounting flanges for securing to a stud.
- Secure the box to the stud using appropriate fasteners (not included). Ensure the box is level and flush with the wall surface.

5.3. Making Water Connections (Push-to-Connect)
The Tectite outlet box utilizes push-to-connect fittings for quick and secure connections to copper, CPVC, PEX, or PE-RT pipes.
- Ensure the pipe ends are clean, free of burrs, and cut squarely. Do not sand the pipe ends as this can damage the O-ring seal.
- Mark the insertion depth on the pipe. Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for specific depth requirements for 1/2-inch push-to-connect fittings.
- Firmly push the pipe into the fitting until it reaches the marked depth. You should feel a slight resistance as the pipe passes through the O-ring and then a secure stop as the stainless steel teeth grip the pipe.
- Gently pull on the pipe to ensure a secure connection.
- Connect the hot water supply line to the valve with the red handle and the cold water supply line to the valve with the blue handle.

5.4. Drain Connection
- Connect the washing machine's drain hose to the large opening at the top of the outlet box. Ensure a secure fit to prevent leaks.
5.5. Finishing the Installation
- Once all plumbing connections are made and secured, turn the main water supply back on.
- Inspect all connections for leaks. Tighten any leaking connections if necessary.
- Install the snap-on faceplate. It is designed to accommodate up to 3/4-inch drywall thickness.
6. Operating Instructions
The Tectite FSBBOXWMWH Outlet Box features quarter-turn ball valves for controlling water flow to your washing machine.
- To Open Valves: Turn the valve handles 90 degrees so they are parallel with the water pipes.
- To Close Valves: Turn the valve handles 90 degrees so they are perpendicular to the water pipes.
It is recommended to close the washing machine valves when the appliance is not in use for extended periods to prevent potential leaks and reduce wear on the washing machine hoses.
7. Maintenance
The Tectite FSBBOXWMWH Outlet Box requires minimal maintenance.
- Periodically inspect the connections for any signs of leaks or corrosion.
- Ensure the valve handles operate smoothly. If they become stiff, a small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the stem (with water supply off).
- The integrated water hammer arrestor is maintenance-free.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Water Leak at Connection | Improper pipe insertion; damaged O-ring; burrs on pipe end. | Ensure pipe is fully inserted. Turn off water, remove pipe using a demount clip, inspect pipe end for damage/burrs, re-insert. If O-ring is damaged, replace the fitting. |
| No Water Flow | Valves closed; main water supply off; clogged pipes. | Open valves. Check main water supply. Consult a plumber if pipes are suspected to be clogged. |
| Water Hammer Noise | Excessive water pressure; rapid valve closure. | The integrated water hammer arrestor should mitigate this. If persistent, check household water pressure regulator or consult a plumber. |
