3. Setup

  1. Unpack the Stove: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Remove Protective Film: Peel off any protective plastic film from the reflective surfaces and from inside the glass cooking tube.
  3. Unfold and Position:
    • Unzip the outer case completely.
    • Locate the kickstand on the back of the unit. Pull it down to extend it and push up to lock it into position. This allows the stove to stand freely.
    • For stability when leaning, engage the hidden prop stick to hold the reflectors in an open position. This can be done with one finger in one direction.
  4. Align with the Sun:
    • Place the stove in a location with direct sunlight.
    • Use the integrated GoSun dial (sun dial) on the front of the unit to align the stove. Adjust the angle until the shadow cast by the bubble aligns with the red dot in the center of the dial. This ensures maximum sun coverage for optimal cooking performance.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 General Cooking

  1. Prepare Food: Chop food into small, uniform pieces for even cooking. The stainless steel cooking pan can accommodate up to 0.9 liters of food.
  2. Load Food: Carefully slide the cooking pan filled with food into the evacuated glass tube. The cooking tray itself can get very hot, so avoid touching it directly.
  3. Do Not Preheat Empty: IMPORTANT: Do not preheat the GOSUN Go empty in direct sunlight. Place food inside the tube before exposing it to the sun to prevent thermal shock and potential damage.
  4. Cook: Position the stove in direct sunlight, ensuring proper alignment using the GoSun dial. Cooking times vary depending on the food type, quantity, and sun intensity. The stove can reach temperatures up to 550°F (288°C) and cook a meal in as little as 20 minutes.
  5. Monitor and Rotate: For best results, rotate the stove approximately every 30 minutes to maintain optimal sun alignment, especially during longer cooking sessions.
  6. Remove Food: Once cooked, carefully slide out the cooking pan using the handle. Use caution as contents will be hot.

  3. Open Reflectors: Open the reflectors and engage the prop stick.
  4. Add Liquid: Pour the liquid directly into the glass tube.
  5. Seal: Place the silicone lid from the cooking tray's handle gently on top of the glass tube to help contain heat.
  6. Cook: Position the stove in direct sunlight. Water can boil in minutes.
  7. Pour: When pouring hot liquids, hold both the kickstand and the gear loop for stability.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

  1. Clean After Every Use: Always clean the cooking tray and glass tube after each use to prevent food residue buildup.
  2. Use Cleaning Brush: The provided cleaning brush is designed to fit perfectly inside the glass tube for easy cleaning. If unavailable, a paper towel can be used.
  3. Water and Soap: The outer case and all components of the GOSUN Go can be cleaned with water and mild soap.
  4. Wipe Reflectors: Use a soft cloth (like a microfiber cloth) to wipe down the reflective surfaces. For stubborn fingerprints or smudges, a glass cleaner can be used.
  5. Air Dry: Allow all parts to air dry completely before storing. The unit is NOT dishwasher safe.
  6. Store Properly: Once clean and dry, collapse the unit and store it in its travel bag.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Food Not Cooking:
    • Ensure the stove is in direct sunlight and properly aligned using the GoSun dial.
    • Check for any shadows falling on the reflectors or the tube.
    • Verify that the ambient temperature is not too low or that there isn't excessive cloud cover. While the stove can work on overcast days, cooking times will be significantly longer.
    • Ensure the food is cut into small, uniform pieces.
  • Food Juices Overflowing:
    • Avoid overfilling the cooking pan. Leave some space for expansion during cooking.
    • Ensure the silicone lid is properly placed to contain any minor spills.
  • Cooking Tray Sticking/Hard to Slide:
    • If the cooking tray slides with friction, apply a solid two-handed squeeze to help keep the tray from expanding.
    • Ensure the tray is clean and free of any dried food residue.
  • Thermal Shock (Glass Tube Cracking):
    • NEVER preheat the stove empty in the sun. Always place food or liquid inside before exposing it to direct sunlight.
    • Do not place cold food or water inside a hot, empty tube.
