1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Hurricane Pro 24-inch Heavy Duty Drum Fan. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, assembly, and maintenance of your new fan. Please read all instructions carefully before use and retain this manual for future reference.
This high-velocity drum fan is designed to deliver powerful airflow, making it ideal for large spaces such as garages, workshops, greenhouses, and other indoor environments requiring significant air circulation.
2. Safety Instructions
2.1 General Safety
- Always unplug the fan from the power outlet before cleaning, servicing, or moving.
- Do not operate the fan with a damaged cord or plug. If the cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified service agent.
- Keep children and pets away from the fan during operation.
- Do not insert fingers or any objects through the grill when the fan is operating.
- Ensure the fan is placed on a stable, level surface to prevent tipping.
- Do not use this fan in wet or damp locations, such as bathrooms or laundry areas.
- This fan is intended for indoor use only.
2.2 Electrical Safety
- Connect the fan to a properly grounded 120V AC, 60Hz power outlet.
- Do not overload electrical outlets.
- Do not run the power cord under carpeting or cover it with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Arrange the cord away from traffic areas where it will not be tripped over.
- This fan features a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
3. Package Contents
Your Hurricane Pro 24-inch Heavy Duty Drum Fan package should include the following components:
- 1 x Hurricane Pro 24-inch Drum Fan (main unit with pre-assembled fan head)
- 1 x U-shaped stand/legs (2 pieces)
- 2 x Wing nuts with washers
- 1 x Instruction Manual
4. Assembly
The Hurricane Pro 24-inch Drum Fan comes mostly pre-assembled, requiring minimal setup. The main fan unit, including the blades and grill, is already intact. You only need to attach the stand/legs.
- Attach the Stand: Locate the two U-shaped stand pieces. These pieces connect to the main fan unit on either side.
- Secure with Wing Nuts: Align the holes on the stand pieces with the corresponding holes on the fan's frame. Insert the provided screws (which may be pre-attached to the fan frame) through the holes, ensuring the washers are in place. Securely tighten the wing nuts on both sides.
- Connect Rear Stand Pieces: The two U-shaped stand pieces connect at the rear. They feature a snap-in mechanism. Push the pin on one piece and slide it into the other until it snaps securely into place.
Once the stand is securely attached, your fan is ready for operation.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off and Speed Adjustment
The fan features a 3-speed rotary switch located at the rear of the fan head.
- Connect to Power: Plug the fan's power cord into a suitable 120V AC, 60Hz grounded electrical outlet.
- Turn On/Adjust Speed: Rotate the power switch clockwise to select your desired speed setting:
- L (Low Speed): For gentle air circulation.
- M (Medium Speed): For moderate airflow.
- H (High Speed): For maximum air circulation (7195 CFM).
- Turn Off: Rotate the power switch counter-clockwise until it reaches the 'O' (Off) position.
5.2 Tilt Adjustment
The fan head can be tilted to direct airflow precisely where needed. To adjust the tilt angle:
- Loosen the wing nuts on both sides of the fan frame (if they are tightened).
- Gently tilt the fan head to the desired upward or downward angle.
- Tighten the wing nuts on both sides to secure the fan head in position.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Regular cleaning will help maintain your fan's performance and extend its lifespan.
- Unplug: Always unplug the fan from the power outlet before cleaning.
- Clean Exterior: Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces of the fan. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals.
- Clean Grills and Blades: The front and rear grills can be removed for thorough cleaning. Carefully unclip the fasteners around the grill to detach it. Wipe the fan blades with a soft, damp cloth. Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling and operating the fan.
6.2 Storage
When not in use, store the fan in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. You may cover it to protect it from dust.
7. Troubleshooting
- Fan does not operate:
- Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
- Check if the power switch is in the 'L', 'M', or 'H' position.
- Verify that the electrical outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.
- Reduced airflow:
- Check if the fan grills or blades are obstructed by dust or debris. Clean as per maintenance instructions.
- Ensure the fan is set to a higher speed setting if more airflow is desired.
- Unusual noise or vibration:
- Turn off and unplug the fan. Check for any loose parts or foreign objects caught in the blades or grill.
- Ensure the fan is placed on a stable, level surface.
