Operating the Scanner
Scanning Barcodes
The NT-1228BL can decode a wide range of 1D and 2D barcodes.

Figure 6: The scanner's CMOS sensor enables omnidirectional reading of 1D, 2D, and QR codes from both paper and digital screens.
To scan, point the scanner's window at the barcode and press the trigger button. A successful scan is typically indicated by a beep and/or a green light.
Scanning Modes
The scanner supports different scanning modes to suit various operational needs:
- Button Trigger Mode: Scan a barcode by pressing the trigger button.
- Automatic Continuous Reading Mode: The scanner continuously scans without needing to press the trigger.
- Automatic Detection Mode: The scanner activates and scans when a barcode is presented within its field of view.
Video 2: Illustrates the three types of scanning modes available with the NETUM Barcode Scanner.
Data Upload Modes
The scanner offers two data upload modes:
- Instant Upload Mode: Barcode data is transmitted immediately to the connected device after each scan.
- Storage Mode: Barcode data is stored in the scanner's internal flash memory. This mode is useful when out of range of the receiver. The scanner can store approximately 130,000 Code128 barcodes. Data can be uploaded later by scanning a specific "Upload Data" barcode (refer to your full manual).

Figure 7: The scanner supports both instant data upload and offline storage modes.
Adding Prefix/Suffix
The scanner can be configured to add prefixes or suffixes to scanned data. This functionality is typically enabled by scanning specific configuration barcodes found in the detailed user manual.

Figure 8: Illustration of how prefixes and suffixes can be added to scanned barcode data.
Maintenance
Charging the Battery
The scanner is equipped with a 2600mAh rechargeable battery. A full charge takes approximately 4 hours and provides over 9 hours of continuous scanning or 2 months of standby time.

Figure 9: Battery specifications including capacity, continuous scanning time, charging time, and standby time.
To charge, connect the scanner to a USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter) using the provided USB cable. The indicator light will show charging status (e.g., orange while charging, green when full).
Cleaning the Scanner
To ensure optimal performance and longevity, keep the scanner clean.
- Use a soft, clean, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior of the scanner.
- For the scanning window, use a lens cleaning cloth or a soft cloth lightly dampened with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could scratch the window.
- Do not immerse the scanner in water or any cleaning solution.
Storage
When not in use for extended periods, store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) before long-term storage to preserve battery health.
Troubleshooting
