Setup

1. Placement

Place the DCD-1600NE on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

2. Connecting Audio Cables

Connect the DCD-1600NE to your amplifier or receiver using the appropriate audio cables. You can use the included stereo RCA cable for analog connection, or optical/digital coaxial cables for digital connection.

  • Analog Connection (RCA): Connect the RCA output jacks (L/R) on the DCD-1600NE to the corresponding analog input jacks on your amplifier/receiver using the supplied RCA cable.
  • Digital Connection (Optical/Coaxial): For digital audio, connect either the OPTICAL OUT or COAXIAL OUT jack on the DCD-1600NE to a digital input on your amplifier/receiver. Use only one digital connection type.

3. Power Connection

After all audio connections are made, connect the power cord to the AC inlet on the rear of the unit, then plug it into a wall outlet.

4. Remote Control Batteries

Insert the two supplied "AAA" batteries into the remote control, ensuring correct polarity.

Operating the Player

1. Power On/Off

Press the power button on the front panel or the remote control to turn the unit on or off.

2. Loading a Disc

  1. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray.
  2. Place a disc (CD, Super Audio CD, or DVD with audio files) onto the disc tray with the label side facing up.
  3. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the disc tray. The unit will begin reading the disc.

3. Playback Controls

  • PLAY (►): Starts playback.
  • PAUSE (⏸): Pauses playback. Press again to resume.
  • STOP (■): Stops playback.
  • SKIP (⏮ / ⏭): Skips to the previous or next track.
  • FAST FORWARD/REWIND: Hold down the SKIP buttons during playback to fast forward or rewind.

4. Pure Direct Mode

Press the PURE DIRECT button on the front panel or remote control to activate this mode. In Pure Direct mode, the digital audio outputs and the display are turned off to minimize interference and achieve the purest possible analog sound quality.

5. Playing USB Audio Files

The DCD-1600NE supports playback of audio files from a USB storage device. Insert the USB device into the USB port on the front panel. Use the unit's controls or remote to navigate and select files for playback.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Unit: Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Disc Handling: Always handle discs by their edges. Keep discs clean and free of scratches. Store discs in their cases when not in use.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings on the unit are not blocked to prevent overheating.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your DCD-1600NE, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Check if the power cord is securely connected to both the unit and the wall outlet. Ensure the power outlet is functional.
  • No Sound: Verify that the audio cables are correctly connected between the DCD-1600NE and your amplifier/receiver. Check the input selection on your amplifier/receiver to ensure it matches the connected input. Confirm that the volume on your amplifier/receiver is not set to minimum or muted.
  • Disc Not Playing/Reading: Ensure the disc is clean and free of scratches or smudges. Try a different disc to rule out a disc-specific issue. Make sure the disc is inserted correctly with the label side up.
  • Remote Control Not Working: Check if the batteries are inserted correctly and are not depleted. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the unit's remote sensor.
