4. Setup and Installation

The Dura G-O-N nozzle is designed for direct installation onto PVC drain pipe. Its marine-grade ASA polymer construction with a bonded, threaded, and sealed PVC insert allows for quick and secure gluing.

  1. Prepare the PVC Pipe: Ensure the end of the PVC drain pipe is clean, dry, and free of burrs.
  2. Apply PVC Cement: Apply a suitable PVC cement to the exterior of the PVC drain pipe and the interior of the Dura G-O-N nozzle's PVC insert. Follow the cement manufacturer's instructions for application and curing times.
  3. Attach the Nozzle: Firmly push the Dura G-O-N nozzle onto the PVC drain pipe, twisting slightly to ensure even distribution of cement and a secure bond. Hold in place for the recommended time.
  4. Install the Escutcheon: Position the escutcheon against the wall, aligning it with the nozzle. The escutcheon is furnished with a security ring for enhanced attachment. Secure the escutcheon to the wall using appropriate fasteners (not included) through the pre-drilled holes.
  5. Curing Time: Allow the PVC cement to cure completely before water is introduced to the system, as per the cement manufacturer's guidelines.

5. Operating Instructions

The RectorSeal Dura G-O-N is a passive drainage component. Once properly installed, it operates by directing water flow from the downspout away from the building's foundation. No manual operation is required.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Dura G-O-N nozzle and escutcheon.

  • Periodic Inspection: Periodically check the nozzle and escutcheon for any signs of damage, cracks, or loose connections.
  • Cleaning: Clear any debris, leaves, or other obstructions from the nozzle opening and the surrounding area to ensure unimpeded water flow. The optional bird screen (if installed) should also be checked and cleaned.
  • Foundation Check: Regularly inspect the area around the foundation to confirm that water is being effectively diverted and no pooling occurs.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Dura G-O-N, consider the following:

  • Water Pooling Near Foundation: Check for blockages within the nozzle or the connecting PVC pipe. Ensure the ground around the foundation slopes away from the building to facilitate proper drainage.
  • Loose Escutcheon: Re-tighten or replace fasteners securing the escutcheon to the wall.
  • Damaged Components: If any part of the nozzle or escutcheon is cracked or broken, replacement may be necessary.
