1. Introduction and Overview

3. Setup Guide

3.1 Charging the Battery

1. Insert the battery into the Tello drone.
2. Connect the Micro USB cable to the drone's charging port and the other end to a USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
3. The LED indicator on the drone will show charging status. It typically turns solid green when fully charged.

3.2 Installing Propellers and Propeller Guards

1. Identify the correct propellers: two are marked with a circle (clockwise rotation) and two are unmarked (counter-clockwise rotation).
2. Match the propellers to the corresponding motor shafts as indicated in the diagram (refer to the Tello app or quick start guide for visual aid).
3. Press down firmly on each propeller until it is securely attached.
4. Attach the propeller guards by snapping them onto the drone's arms for added protection, especially for beginners or indoor flying.

3.3 Connecting to the Tello App

1. Download the "Tello" app from your mobile device's app store (iOS or Android).
2. Power on the Tello drone by pressing the power button once. The indicator lights will flash.
3. On your mobile device, go to Wi-Fi settings and connect to the Tello Wi-Fi network (e.g., "Tello-XXXXXX").
4. Open the Tello app. The app should automatically connect to the drone.
5. If using a Bluetooth controller (sold separately), connect it via your device's Bluetooth settings and then select it within the Tello app.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Flight Controls

Once connected to the Tello app, you will see virtual joysticks on your screen. Familiarize yourself with the controls:

• Left Virtual Joystick: Controls altitude (up/down) and yaw (rotate left/right).
• Right Virtual Joystick: Controls forward/backward movement (pitch) and left/right movement (roll).

4.2 Takeoff and Landing

1. Place the Tello drone on a flat, level surface.
2. In the Tello app, tap the "Takeoff" button. The drone will automatically ascend and hover at a safe height.
3. To land, tap the "Landing" button in the app. The drone will automatically descend and land gently.
4. Alternatively, use the "Throw & Go" feature: with the drone powered on and connected, gently toss it into the air to initiate flight.

4.3 Smart Flight Modes and EZ Shots

The Tello app offers various smart flight modes and EZ Shots for creative flying and video recording:

• 8D Flips: Swipe on the screen in the desired direction to perform impressive aerial flips.
• Bounce Mode: Tello flies up and down from your hand automatically.
• Circle: The drone flies in a circle around a central point.
• 360: The drone rotates 360 degrees while recording.
• Up & Away: The drone flies up and away from you while recording.

4.4 Camera Operation

The Tello drone is equipped with a 5MP camera for photos and 720p HD video recording.

• Tap the camera icon in the Tello app to switch between photo and video modes.
• Tap the shutter button to take a photo or start/stop video recording.
• All captured media is saved directly to your connected mobile device.
