Setup
The Zerodis Coaxial Cable Stripper is designed for immediate use out of the box. No assembly is required. Before first use, inspect the tool for any visible damage. Ensure the blades are clean and free of debris.
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the tool from its packaging.
- Initial Inspection: Check the tool for any signs of damage from shipping. Ensure all moving parts operate smoothly.
- Blade Adjustment: For coaxial cables, the tool has pre-set stripping depths. For other cable types, you may need to adjust the blade depth knob to match the insulation thickness. Turn the knob clockwise to increase depth and counter-clockwise to decrease it. Test on a scrap piece of cable first.
Operating Instructions
This tool offers multiple functions for various cable types:
1. Stripping Coaxial Cables (RG-59, RG-6, RG-7, RG-11)
- Open the tool and insert the coaxial cable into the designated coaxial stripping module (marked with cable types like 59, 6, 7, 11).
- Ensure the cable is seated firmly against the stop.
- Close the handles firmly.
- Rotate the tool around the cable 2-3 times to score the insulation.
- Open the handles and remove the cable. The stripped insulation should come off cleanly, exposing the inner conductor and shielding.

2. Stripping UTP/STP Twisted Pair Cables
- Locate the UTP/STP stripping slot on the tool.
- Insert the twisted pair cable into the slot.
- Adjust the blade depth knob if necessary to match the cable's outer jacket thickness.
- Squeeze the handles gently to cut the outer jacket without damaging the inner wires.
- Rotate the tool slightly and pull to remove the stripped jacket.

3. Stripping Flat Telephone Lines
- Use the flat cable stripping slot.
- Insert the flat telephone line into the slot.
- Squeeze the handles to cut the insulation and pull the cable through to strip.
4. Using the Cutter
- Place the cable into the cutting slot.
- Squeeze the handles firmly to cut the cable.
Maintenance
Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and performance of your tool:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe the blades and body of the tool with a clean, dry cloth to remove any insulation residue or dirt.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of light machine oil to the pivot points to ensure smooth operation.
- Storage: Store the tool in a dry environment to prevent rust and corrosion.
- Blade Sharpening/Replacement: The blades are made of durable SK5 steel. If they become dull over time, they may need professional sharpening or replacement. The tool features a convertible knife module for easy replacement (refer to Figure 6).

Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your tool, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Cable not stripping cleanly / Insulation tearing | Incorrect blade depth setting; Dull blades; Cable not properly seated. | Adjust the blade depth knob (test on scrap cable); Clean or replace blades; Ensure cable is fully inserted and aligned. |
| Inner conductors are damaged during stripping | Blade depth is too deep. | Decrease the blade depth using the adjustment knob. |
| Tool feels stiff or difficult to operate | Lack of lubrication; Dirt or debris in moving parts. | Clean the tool and apply a small amount of light machine oil to pivot points. |
| Tool does not cut cable effectively | Dull cutter blade. | Inspect the cutter blade. If dull, consider professional sharpening or replacement. |
