1. Important Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:
- Read all instructions.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against electric shock, do not place cord, plugs, or coffee maker in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Always fill water reservoir first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
- Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycle.
- The carafe is designed for use with this appliance only. It must never be used on a range top.
- Do not set a hot carafe on a cold or wet surface.
- Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.
- Do not clean carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive material.

3. Setup and First Use
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and labels from the coffee maker.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the glass carafe, lid, and permanent filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
- First Brew Cycle (without coffee):
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the 12-cup mark. (See Image 2 for water filling).
- Place the empty permanent filter into the filter basket, then insert the filter basket into its position.
- Place the empty glass carafe on the heating plate.
- Close the lid.
- Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet.
- Press the "On/Off" button to start a brewing cycle. Allow the full cycle to complete. This cleans the internal components.
- Discard the water from the carafe. Your coffee maker is now ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Brewing Coffee
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the top lid and pour fresh, cold water into the water reservoir using the glass carafe. Fill to the desired number of cups indicated on the water level window. Do not exceed the MAX fill line.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Place the permanent washable filter into the filter basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee using the provided measuring spoon. A general guideline is one level spoon per cup, but adjust to your taste. Close the lid securely. (See Image 3 for adding coffee grounds).
- Position Carafe: Ensure the empty glass carafe is correctly placed on the heating plate.
- Start Brewing: Plug the coffee maker into an electrical outlet. Press the "On/Off" button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
- Anti-Drip Feature: The anti-drip function allows you to temporarily remove the carafe to pour a cup of coffee before the brewing cycle is complete. Replace the carafe within 20 seconds to prevent overflow. (See Image 4 for anti-drip function).
- Keep Warm: The heating plate will keep the coffee warm for up to 2 hours after brewing is complete, then automatically shut off.

4.2 Programming the Auto-On Timer
The programmable timer allows you to set the coffee maker to start brewing automatically at a specific time.
- Set Current Time: Press the "HR" button to set the hour and the "MIN" button to set the minutes. The digital display will show the current time.
- Set Program Time: Press the "PROG" button. The display will flash. Use the "HR" and "MIN" buttons to set the desired time for brewing to start.
- Activate Program: Press the "PROG" button again to confirm. The "PROG" indicator light will illuminate, indicating the auto-on function is active.
- Prepare Coffee Maker: Ensure the water reservoir is filled and coffee grounds are in the filter basket before setting the program.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.
5.1 Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
- Wash the carafe, carafe lid, and permanent filter in warm, soapy water after each use. These parts are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Clean the heating plate with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive materials.
5.2 Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)
Mineral deposits (calcium/lime) left by water can affect the performance of your coffee maker. Descale your coffee maker every 3-6 months, or more frequently in hard water areas.
- Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water.
- Place the empty permanent filter in the filter basket and the empty carafe on the heating plate.
- Press the "On/Off" button to start a brewing cycle. Allow the cycle to complete. The coffee maker will automatically shut off.
- If necessary, repeat the cleaning procedure with a fresh vinegar/water solution until the "On/Off" indicator light turns off.
- Run 2-3 cycles with fresh, cold water only to rinse out any remaining vinegar.
6. Troubleshooting
