2. Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the product:

  • Water Exposure: This reel is designed for fishing, but avoid submerging the reel or exposing electrical connections to excessive water. Wipe dry immediately if wet.
  • Power Source: Use only the specified power source and cable. Incorrect voltage can damage the reel.
  • Moving Parts: Keep fingers and loose clothing away from moving parts during operation to prevent entanglement.
  • Children: Keep the reel out of reach of children. This is not a toy.
  • Modifications: Do not attempt to modify or disassemble the reel. Unauthorized modifications can lead to malfunction and void the warranty.
  • Heat: The motor may generate heat during prolonged use. Avoid direct contact with the motor housing during and immediately after operation.

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items are present and undamaged. The package should include the reel body and a power cable.

3.2 Attaching the Reel to a Rod

Securely attach the reel to your fishing rod's reel seat. Ensure the reel foot is firmly seated and the locking mechanism is tightened to prevent movement during use.

3.3 Spooling Line

The reel supports PE line capacities of 3-400 (No.-m) and 4-300 (No.-m). Follow standard fishing reel line spooling procedures, ensuring the line is evenly distributed on the spool. Avoid overfilling the spool, which can lead to tangles and casting issues.

3.4 Connecting Power

Connect the provided power cable to the reel's power port and to a compatible 12V DC power source (e.g., a boat battery). Ensure a secure connection to prevent power interruptions. The reel is designed for right-hand retrieve.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

To power on the reel, connect it to a power source. The LCD display will illuminate. To power off, disconnect the power cable.

4.3 Automatic Drag System (ATD)

The ATD automatically adjusts drag tension in response to the fish's pull, providing a smooth and consistent drag performance. Set your initial drag according to your target fish and line strength. The ATD will then work to minimize line breakage and ensure a steady fight.

4.4 Display Functions

The LCD display shows important information such as line depth and winding speed. Refer to the on-screen indicators for real-time data during fishing. Use the 'MODE' button to cycle through different display modes.

4.5 Synchronized Level Wind

The Synchronized Level Wind system ensures that the line is evenly distributed across the spool during both winding and unwinding. This feature helps prevent line tangles and improves overall line management, especially when targeting fast-moving fish schools.

4.6 Aluminum Round Knob

The reel is equipped with an easy-to-grip aluminum round knob, providing comfort and control during prolonged use.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning After Use

After each use, especially in saltwater, gently rinse the reel with fresh water. Do not use high-pressure water. Wipe the reel dry with a soft cloth. Ensure no water enters the electrical connections.

5.2 Lubrication

Periodically apply a small amount of reel grease to moving parts and a drop of reel oil to bearings as recommended by Daiwa. Over-lubrication can attract dirt and hinder performance. For detailed lubrication points, consult a professional service center.

5.3 Storage

Store the reel in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the power cable is disconnected and stored properly to prevent damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Daiwa 15 Leo Blitz 300J, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Reel Not Powering On:
    • Check the power cable connection to both the reel and the battery.
    • Ensure the battery is charged and providing sufficient voltage.
    • Inspect the power cable for any visible damage.
  • Reel Not Winding:
    • Verify the JOG Power Lever is engaged.
    • Check for any obstructions in the spool or level wind mechanism.
    • Ensure the drag is not set too loose, causing the spool to slip.
  • Inconsistent Drag Performance:
    • Ensure the drag washers are clean and free of debris.
    • Adjust the drag setting to an appropriate level for your fishing conditions.

If the problem persists after performing these checks, please contact an authorized Daiwa service center for assistance.
