4. Setup

4.1. Keyboard Stand Assembly (PKBS1)

Follow the instructions provided with the PKBS1 keyboard stand to assemble it securely. Ensure the stand is stable before placing the keyboard on it.

4.2. Power Connection

  1. Connect the PA130 power adapter to the DC IN jack on the rear panel of the keyboard.
  2. Plug the power adapter into a standard AC wall outlet.

4.3. Sustain Pedal Connection

If you have an optional sustain pedal, connect it to the SUSTAIN jack on the rear panel of the keyboard. This allows for sustained notes, similar to an acoustic piano.

4.4. Headphone Connection

For private practice, connect standard stereo headphones to the PHONES/OUTPUT jack on the rear panel. The internal speakers will be muted automatically.

4.5. AUX IN Connection

Connect an external audio player (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the AUX IN stereo mini jack on the rear panel to play along with your favorite music through the keyboard's speakers.

4.6. USB to Host Connection

Connect the keyboard to a computer or iOS device using a standard USB cable (not included) via the USB TO HOST port. This enables MIDI and digital audio transfer for music production software.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Powering On/Off

Press the [POWER] button located on the top left of the control panel to turn the instrument on or off.

5.2. Adjusting Volume

Use the [MASTER VOLUME] knob to adjust the overall output volume of the keyboard.

5.3. Selecting Voices

The PSR-EW300SA features 574 instrument Voices. Use the [VOICE] button and the numeric keypad to select your desired instrument sound. Refer to the Voice List in the appendix for a complete list.

5.4. Using Accompaniment Styles

Choose from 165 auto accompaniment styles to provide a virtual backing band. Press the [STYLE] button and use the numeric keypad to select a style. Press [SYNC START] to begin the accompaniment when you play a chord, or [START/STOP] for immediate playback.

5.5. Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.) & Touch Tutor

The Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.) offers built-in lessons to help you learn preset songs. The Touch Tutor lesson mode tracks the velocity or strength with which keys are played, teaching dynamic expression. Follow the on-screen prompts and use the [LESSON] buttons to navigate through the lessons.

5.6. Recording Your Performance

The keyboard includes an on-board 2-track recorder. Press the [REC] button to start recording your performance. You can record up to 5 songs with approximately 10,000 notes of data capacity.

5.7. Effects and Arpeggiator

Enhance your sound with various effects like Reverb and Chorus. The Arpeggiator automatically generates arpeggios based on the chords you play, adding dynamic patterns to your music.

5.8. Registration Memory

Save your favorite Voice, Style, and other settings to the Registration Memory for instant recall. This is useful for live performances or quick changes between different musical pieces.

5.9. Melody Suppressor

When using the AUX IN, the Melody Suppressor function can reduce the volume of the melody part of a song, allowing you to play along with the backing track.

6.1. Cleaning

Wipe the keyboard's surface with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then wipe dry. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.

6.2. Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the keyboard in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Consider using a dust cover to protect it.
