This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Fodsports M1-S Pro Motorcycle Bluetooth Intercom. The Fodsports M1-S Pro unit features an ergonomic design for easy operation while riding. Familiarize yourself with the main unit and its controls.

The unit includes buttons for power, volume control, and intercom functions, designed for intuitive use even with gloves.

4. Installation

The M1-S Pro can be installed on most helmets using either a metal clip or an adhesive mount.

4.1. Mounting the Main Unit

There are two primary methods for attaching the M1-S Pro unit to your helmet:

  1. Method 1: Metal Clip Installation
    • Assemble the unit base and rubber pad.
    • Insert the metal clip into the unit base.
    • Attach the unit base to the helmet edge.
    • Mount the M1-S Pro onto the installed base.
  2. Method 2: Adhesive Mount Installation
    • Remove the paper from the 3M adhesive Velcro.
    • Attach the adhesive Velcro to the unit base.
    • Attach the unit base to a flat surface on your helmet.
    • Mount the M1-S Pro onto the installed base.

4.2. Speaker and Microphone Installation

Position the speakers inside the helmet's ear pockets using the Velcro pads. Ensure the microphone is placed close to your mouth for optimal voice clarity. Use the boom microphone for open-face helmets and the soft wire microphone for full-face helmets.

5. Basic Operation

5.1. Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press and hold the Power button until the indicator light turns on.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the Power button until the indicator light turns off.

5.2. Bluetooth Pairing (with Phone/GPS)

  1. Ensure the M1-S Pro is off.
  2. Press and hold the Power button until the indicator light flashes red and blue, indicating pairing mode.
  3. On your phone or GPS device, enable Bluetooth and search for "Fodsports M1-S Pro".
  4. Select the device to pair. A voice prompt will confirm successful pairing.

5.3. Intercom Pairing (Unit-to-Unit)

For group communication, pair multiple M1-S Pro units:

  1. Ensure both units are off.
  2. On both units, press and hold the Intercom button until the indicator lights flash red and blue.
  3. Once paired, the lights will turn solid blue, and you will hear a confirmation tone.
  4. Repeat for additional units (up to 8 riders).

5.4. Volume Control

Use the '+' and '-' buttons on the unit to adjust the volume up or down during calls, music playback, or intercom communication.

5.5. Phone Calls

  • Answer Call: Press the Intercom button once.
  • End Call: Press the Intercom button once.
  • Reject Call: Press and hold the Intercom button for 2 seconds.
  • Redial Last Number: Double-press the Intercom button.
  • Switch Auto/Manual Answering: While in standby, press and hold the Intercom button and both volume '+' and '-' buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The factory default is manual answering.

5.6. Music Playback & Sharing

  • Play/Pause: Press the Function button (largest button) once.
  • Next Track: Press the '+' button.
  • Previous Track: Press the '-' button.
  • Music Sharing: After two units are successfully paired and music is paused, press and hold the volume '-' button and the Function button on one unit for 3 seconds until you hear a beep. Both riders will then enjoy the same song.

5.7. Voice Assistant

Activate your phone's voice assistant (Siri, Google Assistant) with a single touch for hands-free control of calls, music, and GPS navigation.

5.8. FM Radio

The M1-S Pro includes an FM radio function. Refer to the quick start guide for specific button presses to activate and scan FM stations.

6. Advanced Features

6.1. Group Intercom & Automatic Reconnection

The M1-S Pro supports full-duplex communication for up to 8 riders with a maximum range of 2000 meters in open terrain. If a rider moves out of range, the system will automatically reconnect within 3 minutes upon returning to range. If more than 3 minutes pass, simply press the intercom button to restore the connection.

6.2. Noise Reduction Technology

Equipped with CVC (Clear Voice Capture) noise reduction technology, the M1-S Pro effectively minimizes ambient noise such as wind and engine sounds. This ensures clear communication even at speeds above 75 MPH (120 KPH).

6.3. Universal Pairing Mode

The M1-S Pro features a universal pairing mode, allowing it to connect with some intercoms from other brands. While it aims for broad compatibility, 100% compatibility with all brands cannot be guaranteed.

6.4. Wired Connection

The M1-S Pro can connect to non-Bluetooth devices such as GPS navigators or speed detectors via the included 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable. This allows for simultaneous intercom communication and audio input from wired devices.

7. Maintenance and Care

7.1. Charging the Battery

The M1-S Pro is equipped with a 900mAh rechargeable battery. Connect the unit to a USB power source using the provided USB cable. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours. The battery provides up to 20 hours of talk time, 16 hours of music time, and 300 hours of standby time.

7.2. Waterproof and Dustproof

The M1-S Pro is designed with IP65 waterproof and dustproof ratings, allowing it to be used in various weather conditions. Ensure the rubber plug is inserted into the charging port while riding to prevent dust and rain from causing damage.

7.3. Cleaning

Wipe the unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the unit is fully charged. If the unit does not turn on after charging, contact support.
  • Cannot Pair: Ensure both devices are in pairing mode. If pairing with an older M1-S Pro version (v1.0), manual intercom activation might be required by pressing the intercom button after successful pairing.
  • Poor Sound Quality: Check speaker placement inside the helmet. Ensure the microphone is positioned correctly and not obstructed. Noise reduction features are active, but extreme wind noise can still affect clarity at very high speeds.
  • Intercom Disconnects: If riders move out of range, the unit will attempt to reconnect automatically for 3 minutes. If reconnection fails, manually press the intercom button.
  • Battery Drains Quickly: Ensure the unit is fully charged before use. Battery life can vary based on usage (intercom, music, phone calls).
