2. Setup and Installation

Proper installation of your infant car seat base is crucial for your child's safety. Follow these steps carefully for LATCH installation. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for specific LATCH anchor locations.

2.1. Installing the Base with LATCH System

  1. Place the car seat base on the vehicle seat.
  2. Pull up on the recline adjustment lever located on the front of the base. Adjust the base up or down until the red marker is visible between the two lines on the recline angle indicators.
  3. Firmly pull to remove the lower connectors from their storage compartments in the base.
  4. Press and hold the lower connector release button, then pull the lower connectors to lengthen the straps.
  5. Press the lower connectors onto their adjacent vehicle lower anchors until a click is heard. Pull on the lower connectors to verify they are securely attached.
  6. While pressing the center of the base firmly into the vehicle seat, pull up on the lower connector straps located in the center of the base to tighten.
  7. To achieve the tightest install, you can push on the right or left side of the base while simultaneously pulling the corresponding LATCH webbing.
  8. Feed any excess webbing back into the base and ensure that the lower connector straps are flush with the base.
  9. Check that the lower connector straps are tight and that the base is secure. The base is secure if it moves less than one inch (2.5 cm) from side-to-side or front-to-back at the vehicle belt path.
  10. Confirm that the recline angle is correct by checking that the red marker is visible between the two lines on the recline angle indicators.
