Introduction

The Deeper START Fish Finder is a portable, castable smart sonar device designed for recreational fishing from various locations such as docks, shores, banks, or kayaks. It connects wirelessly to your smartphone or tablet via its own Wi-Fi, providing real-time data on fish location, depth, bottom contour, and vegetation.

Setup Guide

1. Charge Your Deeper START

Connect the provided USB charging cable to the Deeper START unit and a power source. A full charge takes approximately 2.5 hours and provides up to 6 hours of continuous usage.

2. Download the Fish Deeper App

Download the free Fish Deeper app from the Apple App Store (for iOS devices) or Google Play Store (for Android devices). Search for "Fish Deeper" or "Deeper Smart Sonar".

3. Connect to Your Smartphone/Tablet

Place the Deeper START unit in water near you to activate it. The device will automatically generate its own Wi-Fi hotspot. Go to your smartphone/tablet's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the "Deeper Start" network (e.g., "Deeper Start 9EB4").

Note: For optimal performance and to prevent interference, it is recommended to disable mobile data or Wi-Fi Assist on your smartphone while connected to the Deeper START's Wi-Fi.

4. Attach to Your Fishing Line

Use the provided barrel swivel to securely attach the Deeper START unit to your fishing line. Ensure the connection is strong to prevent loss during casting.

Operating Instructions

Casting and Scanning

Once connected, open the Fish Deeper app. Cast the Deeper START unit into the water. As you reel it in, the app will display real-time sonar data, showing fish icons, depth, bottom contour, and vegetation.

Tip: The larger the fish icon, the larger the fish. Numbers near fish icons indicate their depth in the water column. The depth chart on the right side of the screen shows the current depth reading under the sonar beam.

Night Fishing Mode

The Deeper START features a built-in light for night fishing, allowing you to easily locate the device in low-light conditions.

Maintenance

Charging

Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

Connectivity Issues

• Ensure the Deeper START is in water to activate its Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Verify that your smartphone/tablet is connected to the Deeper START's Wi-Fi network.
• Disable mobile data or Wi-Fi Assist on your device to prevent interference.
• Ensure your smartphone/tablet is held in a position that allows for an unobstructed connection to the Deeper START (avoid placing it on the ground, in pockets, or cases).
• Restart the Fish Deeper app and/or your smartphone/tablet if connection problems persist.

Inaccurate Readings

• Ensure the Deeper START is floating correctly and not submerged or obstructed.
• Check for debris or marine growth on the sonar transducer.
• Verify that the water temperature is within the operating range (0°C to 40°C).

Battery Not Charging

• Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the Deeper START and the power source.
• Try a different USB port or power adapter.
• Check the charging port on the Deeper START for any obstructions or damage.
