Introduction and Safety Information
Thank you for choosing the KERN MGD 100K-1 Digital Personal Scale. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your new scale. Please read it thoroughly before use and keep it for future reference.
Important Safety Precautions:
- Always place the scale on a hard, flat, and stable surface. Carpets or uneven floors can affect accuracy.
- Do not use the scale on wet or slippery surfaces. The glass platform can become very slippery when wet.
- Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 180 kg (396 lb).
- Avoid dropping the scale or subjecting it to strong impacts, as this may damage the glass platform or internal components.
- Keep the scale away from water and high humidity. Do not immerse it in water.
- This scale is intended for personal use only and not for commercial or medical diagnostic purposes.
- Keep batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.

Setup
- Unpack the Scale: Carefully remove the scale from its packaging. Inspect for any damage.
- Install Batteries:
Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale. Open the cover and insert the required batteries. The specific battery type (e.g., AAA, CR2032) and polarity markings (+/-) are usually indicated within the compartment. Ensure correct polarity. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: Batteries are typically not included with the product and must be purchased separately. Please check the battery compartment for the exact type required.
- Placement: Place the scale on a firm, flat, and level surface. Avoid soft surfaces like carpets, which can lead to inaccurate readings.
- Select Measurement Unit (if applicable):
Some models allow you to switch between kilograms (kg), pounds (lb), or stones (st). Look for a button (often labeled "UNIT" or "MODE") usually located near the battery compartment or on the underside of the scale. Press it to cycle through the available units until your desired unit is displayed.
- Initial Calibration (First Use):
For the first use or after moving the scale, it is recommended to "zero" it. Gently tap the center of the scale with your foot to turn it on, then wait for "0.0" to appear on the display before stepping on it. This ensures accurate measurement.
Operating Instructions
- Step On: Gently step onto the center of the scale with bare feet. Stand still and distribute your weight evenly.
- Read Measurement: The display will show your weight. Wait for the reading to stabilize and flash a few times, indicating the final measurement.
- Step Off: Once the measurement is complete, step off the scale. The scale will typically hold the reading for a few seconds before automatically turning off to conserve battery life.
- Consistent Measurement: For consistent results, weigh yourself at the same time of day, preferably in the morning before breakfast and after using the restroom.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the scale with a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
- Battery Replacement: If the display shows "Lo" or becomes dim, it's time to replace the batteries. Refer to the "Install Batteries" section under Setup for instructions. Always replace all batteries at the same time with new ones of the same type.
- Storage: Store the scale in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Do not place heavy objects on the scale when not in use.
- Disposal: Dispose of used batteries and the scale itself according to local regulations. Do not dispose of batteries in household waste.
