Figure 2.1: The Graco Edge II HVLP Spray Gun, featuring a chrome body, black ergonomic handle, and a clear 32 oz FlexLiner cup attached at the bottom. The gun has blue accents and visible controls for fluid and air adjustments.

Key Features:

  • Integrated Flow Control: Combines material and air flow into one simple control, optimized for fine finish applications. Features quick adjustment with 360° rotation and an indicator for repeatable spray settings.
  • Adjustable Air Cap: Offers 3-position rotation to change the spray pattern. Conveniently located at the front of the gun, it allows more air pressure into the material cup to spray heavier material.
  • EasyGlide 2-Finger Trigger and Ergonomic Handle: The trigger has up to 75% lighter pull than comparable models, and the 2-finger design provides more control while spraying. The form-fitted handle stays cool during extended use.
  • Quick Release Needle Design: Allows for easy needle changes from the front of the gun with a simple click. No tools are needed for changing or cleaning.
  • Included Components: Comes with a 1 qt FlexLiner Cup and a #3 Quick Release Fluid Set.
  • Compatible Materials: Suitable for use with Varnish, Enamel, Latex, and Stains.
  • Compatibility: Designed for use with FinishPro HVLP Sprayers.

3. Setup

Before initial use, ensure all components are present and securely attached.

  1. Attach FlexLiner Cup: Securely attach the 1 qt FlexLiner Cup to the bottom of the spray gun. Ensure it is properly seated to prevent leaks.
  2. Install Fluid Set: Insert the #3 Quick Release Fluid Set into the gun. This set is designed for easy installation and removal.
  3. Connect to HVLP Sprayer: Connect the Graco Edge II Gun to a compatible Graco FinishPro HVLP Sprayer. Ensure all connections are tight and leak-free.
  4. Prepare Material: Prepare your chosen material (varnish, enamel, latex, or stain) according to the manufacturer's instructions. Pour the prepared material into the FlexLiner Cup.

4. Operating Instructions

Proper operation ensures optimal finish quality and extends the life of your spray gun.

  1. Adjust Fluid Levels: Use the integrated flow control dial to adjust the fluid levels. This dial combines material and air flow for precise control. Rotate the dial to increase or decrease material flow as needed for your application.
  2. Set Spray Pattern: Rotate the adjustable air cap, located at the front of the gun, to select one of the three available spray patterns (horizontal, vertical, or round). This allows you to adapt the spray to different surfaces and project requirements.
  3. Control Air Pressure: The adjustable air cap also allows for more air pressure into the material cup, which is beneficial when spraying heavier materials. Adjust as necessary to achieve desired atomization.
  4. Initiate Spraying: Depress the EasyGlide 2-Finger Trigger to begin spraying. The light pull and ergonomic design reduce fatigue during prolonged use. Maintain a consistent distance and speed for an even finish.

5. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and performance of your Graco Edge II Gun.

  1. Clean After Each Use: Thoroughly clean the spray gun immediately after each use. Follow the material manufacturer's recommendations for cleaning solvents.
  2. Quick Release Needle Change: To change or clean the needle, twist off the front air cap and nozzle. Slide the trigger lever to release the needle, then pull the needle out. This process is tool-free and takes approximately one minute.
  3. Clean FlexLiner Cup: The FlexLiner cup is designed for easy cleaning and reuse. Empty any remaining material and clean the cup thoroughly.
  4. Inspect Components: Periodically inspect the fluid set, air cap, and trigger mechanism for wear or damage. Replace worn parts as needed to maintain optimal performance.
