Setup Instructions

  1. Ensure your Nintendo Switch console is securely placed in its dock and connected to a power source and display.
  2. Locate an available USB port on the Nintendo Switch dock.
  3. Connect the smaller end of the detachable 10ft (3m) USB cable to the micro USB port on the top of the PowerA Wired Controller.
  4. Connect the larger USB-A end of the cable to an available USB port on the Nintendo Switch dock.
  5. The controller should be automatically recognized by the Nintendo Switch console. You can now use the controller for gameplay.

Operating Instructions

This wired controller functions as a standard Nintendo Switch Pro Controller when connected to the dock. It features the familiar Nintendo Switch button layout, including A, B, X, Y buttons, directional pad, L/R and ZL/ZR shoulder buttons, and +/-/Home/Capture buttons.

  • Gameplay: Use the left and right analog sticks for movement and camera control. Utilize the A, B, X, Y buttons for in-game actions.
  • System Navigation: The Home button allows you to return to the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu. The Capture button can be used to take screenshots or record video clips (depending on game support).
  • Advanced Gaming Buttons: The controller includes mappable Advanced Gaming Buttons on the back. Refer to the included User Guide for detailed instructions on how to program these buttons.

Important Note:

This controller is designed for use only while the Nintendo Switch is in its dock. It does not support HD rumble, IR, motion controls, or Amiibo NFC functionality.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the controller. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Utilize the hook-and-loop strap on the USB cable for neat storage.
  • Cable Care: Do not sharply bend or crimp the USB cable. Always grasp the plug, not the cable, when connecting or disconnecting.

Troubleshooting

Controller not responding.
  • Ensure the Nintendo Switch is docked and powered on.
  • Verify the USB cable is securely connected to both the controller and the Switch dock.
  • Try connecting the cable to a different USB port on the dock.
  • Restart the Nintendo Switch console.
Buttons or analog sticks are not working correctly.
  • Check for any physical obstructions or debris around the buttons or sticks.
  • Ensure the controller's firmware is up to date (check PowerA's official website for updates).
  • Test the controller with a different game or on another compatible system if possible to isolate the issue.
Controller disconnects frequently.
  • Ensure the USB cable is not being pulled or strained during use.
  • Verify the cable connections are firm.
  • The cable might be damaged; try using a different compatible USB cable if available.
