Setup

Powering the Unit

The Memorex MP3862 can be powered by either AC power or batteries.

AC Power Operation:

1. Ensure the unit is turned off.
2. Connect the supplied AC power cord to the AC IN jack on the back of the boombox.
3. Plug the other end of the AC power cord into a standard wall outlet (AC 120V ~ 60Hz).

Battery Operation:

For portable use, the boombox requires 8 "C" size batteries (not included).

1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the unit.
2. Open the battery compartment cover.
3. Insert 8 "C" size batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: Disconnect the AC power cord when operating on batteries.

Operating Instructions

General Operation

• Power On/Off: Press the STANDBY button to turn the unit on or off.
• Volume Control: Rotate the VOLUME knob (located on the left side) to adjust the sound level.
• Bass Boost: Press the BASS button to enhance low-end frequencies. Press again to deactivate.
• Mode Selection: Press the MODE button repeatedly to cycle through available modes: CD, Bluetooth, FM, AM, AUX.

Bluetooth Operation

1. Press the MODE button to select Bluetooth mode. The Bluetooth indicator on the display will flash.
2. Enable Bluetooth on your device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) and search for available devices.
3. Select "MEMOREX MP3862" from the list of found devices.
4. Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator will stop flashing and remain solid. You can now stream audio from your device to the boombox.
5. Use your connected device or the boombox's playback controls (Play/Pause, Skip) to control music.

CD Playback

1. Press the MODE button to select CD mode.
2. Open the CD compartment lid by gently lifting it.
3. Place a CD (CD, CD-R, or CD-RW) with the label side facing up onto the spindle.
4. Close the CD compartment lid. The boombox will read the disc.
5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.
6. Use the SKIP buttons (|<< and >>|) to navigate between tracks.
7. Press the STOP button to stop playback.
8. Program Play: Refer to the detailed instructions in the full manual for programming custom playback sequences.

AM/FM Radio Operation

1. Press the MODE button to select FM or AM radio mode.
2. Extend the FM telescopic antenna for better FM reception. For AM, rotate the unit for best reception.
3. Rotate the TUNING knob (located on the right side) to manually tune to your desired radio station.
4. Auto Scan/Preset: Press and hold the FM/AM button to auto-scan and store available stations. Use the PRESET buttons to cycle through stored stations.

Auxiliary Input (AUX IN)

1. Press the MODE button to select AUX mode.
2. Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the AUX IN jack on the boombox.
3. Connect the other end of the audio cable to the headphone jack or audio output of your external device (MP3 player, smartphone, etc.).
4. Play audio from your external device. The sound will be amplified through the boombox speakers.

Headphone Use

• Plug a pair of headphones (not included) into the HEADPHONE jack.
• The speakers will automatically mute when headphones are connected.
• Adjust the volume using the VOLUME knob.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• CD Lens Care: Avoid touching the CD lens. If the lens is dirty, use a commercially available CD lens cleaner.
• Storage: If the unit will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and store in a cool, dry place.
