2. Safety Information
Please read all instructions and warnings in this manual before installation and operation. Keep this manual for future reference.
- Ensure all wiring is correctly sized and properly insulated.
- Always connect the battery first, then the solar panel, and finally the load. Disconnect in the reverse order.
- The controller is designed for negative ground systems. Ensure proper grounding to prevent electrical hazards.
- Avoid short-circuiting terminals.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the controller. Contact Renogy support for assistance.
- Install the controller in a well-ventilated area, away from flammable materials and moisture.
3. Product Components
The Adventurer 30A controller features the following main components:
- LCD Display: Shows system parameters, battery status, and error codes.
- USB Port (5V 2.4A): For charging small electronic devices.
- Select Button: Navigates through display screens and menu options.
- Enter Button: Confirms selections and enters menu settings.
- PV+ / PV- Terminals: Connect to solar panel positive and negative.
- BAT+ / BAT- Terminals: Connect to battery positive and negative.
- LOAD+ / LOAD- Terminals: Connect to DC load positive and negative.

4. Installation
4.1 Mounting
The Adventurer 30A is designed for flush mounting, providing a clean, integrated look. A surface mount attachment is included for alternative installation.
- Flush Mount: Cut an opening in the desired surface (e.g., RV wall) according to the provided template in the full user manual. Secure the controller using screws through the mounting holes.
- Surface Mount: Attach the included surface mount bracket to the controller, then secure the bracket to the desired surface.

4.2 Wiring Sequence
Follow the correct wiring sequence to ensure safe and proper operation:
- Connect the Battery: Connect the positive and negative battery cables to the BAT+ and BAT- terminals on the controller. Ensure correct polarity. The LCD will illuminate.
- Connect the Solar Panel: Connect the positive and negative solar panel cables to the PV+ and PV- terminals. Ensure correct polarity.
- Connect the DC Load (Optional): Connect the positive and negative load cables to the LOAD+ and LOAD- terminals.
Always ensure all connections are tight and secure. The Adventurer 30A is a negative ground controller, meaning the negative terminals of the solar panel, battery, and load are internally connected to the controller's negative ground.

5. Operation
5.1 LCD Display
The backlit LCD displays various system parameters, including battery voltage, charging current, solar panel voltage, and battery state of charge. It also shows error codes if any issues arise.

5.2 Button Functions
- SELECT Button: Press to cycle through different display screens (e.g., battery voltage, charging current). In menu mode, it navigates between options.
- ENTER Button: Press and hold to enter menu settings. In menu mode, it confirms a selection or enters a sub-menu.
5.3 Battery Type Selection
The controller supports Lithium, AGM, Gel, and Flooded batteries. It is crucial to select the correct battery type for optimal charging and battery longevity.
- Press and hold the ENTER button to access the settings menu.
- Use the SELECT button to navigate to the battery type setting.
- Press ENTER to select the option, then use SELECT to choose your battery type (e.g., Li for Lithium, GEL, FLD for Flooded, AGM).
- Press ENTER again to confirm your selection.
For Lithium batteries, the charging voltage can be programmed to specific values. Refer to your battery manufacturer's specifications for recommended charging voltages.
5.4 Bluetooth Module (Optional)
The RS232 port allows connection of the Renogy BT-1 Bluetooth module (sold separately). This module enables wireless monitoring and adjustment of controller settings via the Renogy DC Home smartphone application.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your solar charge controller.
- Check Connections: Periodically inspect all wiring connections to ensure they are tight and free from corrosion.
- Clean the Controller: Keep the controller clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry cloth for cleaning.
- Ventilation: Ensure the installation area remains well-ventilated to prevent overheating.
- Inspect Wiring: Check for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage to the cables. Replace damaged cables immediately.
7. Troubleshooting
