The front panel features the main display, control buttons for various functions (e.g., power, mode, play/pause, skip), and the CD loading slot. A central control knob with push function is also present for navigation and selection.

On the rear, you will find:

Setup

  1. Unpack the Unit: Carefully remove the Oakington unit and all accessories from the packaging.
  2. Position the Unit: Place the unit on a stable, flat surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around it.
  3. Connect the Antenna: Extend the telescopic antenna fully for optimal radio reception.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the supplied power adapter into the DC IN port on the rear of the unit, then plug the adapter into a wall socket.
  5. Initial Power On: Flip the main power switch on the rear to the 'ON' position. Press the Power button on the front panel or remote control to turn on the unit.
  6. Automatic DAB+ Scan: Upon first power-on, the unit may automatically initiate a scan for DAB+ stations. Allow this process to complete to store available stations.

Operating Instructions

DAB+ Radio Mode

  1. Press the Mode button to select DAB+ mode.
  2. If an automatic scan did not occur, or if you wish to rescan, navigate to the 'Full Scan' option in the menu and confirm. The unit will search for and store all available DAB+ stations.
  3. Use the navigation buttons or control knob to browse through the list of available stations. Press to select a station.
  4. To save a station as a preset, press and hold the Preset button, then select a preset number and confirm. The Oakington supports up to 40 presets.

FM Radio Mode

  1. Press the Mode button to select FM mode.
  2. To automatically scan for stations, press and hold the Scan button. The unit will find and store strong signals.
  3. For manual tuning, use the navigation buttons to fine-tune the frequency.
  4. To save an FM station as a preset, press and hold the Preset button, then select a preset number and confirm.

CD Player Mode

  1. Press the Mode button to select CD mode.
  2. Gently insert a CD (CD-DA, CD-R) into the CD slot on the front of the unit. The unit will automatically draw in the disc.
  3. The CD will begin playing automatically after a few seconds of reading.
  4. Use the Play/Pause, Skip Forward, and Skip Backward buttons to control playback.
  5. To eject the CD, press the Eject button.

Bluetooth Mode

  1. Press the Mode button to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show 'Bluetooth' or 'Pairing'.
  2. On your external device (smartphone, tablet), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select 'Oakington' from the list of devices.
  4. Once paired, the unit will emit a confirmation tone, and you can stream audio from your device.

USB Playback Mode

  1. Ensure your USB stick is formatted to FAT32 and contains MP3 files in its root directory (the unit cannot read files from folders).
  2. Insert the USB stick into the designated USB port on the rear of the unit.
  3. Press the Mode button to select USB mode.
  4. The unit will automatically begin playing MP3 files from the USB stick.
  5. Use the Play/Pause, Skip Forward, and Skip Backward buttons to control playback.

AUX Input Mode

  1. Connect one end of a 3.5mm AUX cable (supplied) to the AUX IN port on the rear of the Oakington.
  2. Connect the other end of the AUX cable to the headphone jack or audio output of your external audio device.
  3. Press the Mode button to select AUX mode.
  4. Control playback and volume from your external device.

Alarm and Clock Function

The Oakington includes an alarm function. Refer to the on-screen menu for setting the clock and configuring alarms. You can typically set the alarm to wake you to your favorite radio station or a buzzer sound.
