4. Basic and Advanced Operations
The EL-531TGGR offers 273 functions. Familiarize yourself with the key layout and the functions printed above and below each key, which are accessed using the [2nd F] (second function) and [ALPHA] keys.
4.1. Basic Arithmetic
Perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using the [+], [-], [×], [÷] keys. Press [=] to calculate the result.
4.2. Scientific Functions
Access trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan), inverse trigonometric functions (sin-1, cos-1, tan-1), logarithms (log, ln), powers (xy, x2), and roots (√) directly or via the [2nd F] key.
- Trigonometry: Use [sin], [cos], [tan]. For inverse functions, press [2nd F] then the respective key.
- Logarithms: Use [log] (base 10) and [ln] (natural logarithm).
- Powers and Roots: Use [x2] for squaring, [2nd F] then [x2] for square root (√). For general powers, use [yx].
- Fractions: Use the [a b/c] key for entering and calculating with fractions.
4.3. Mode Settings
Press the [MODE] key to cycle through different calculation modes (e.g., Normal, Stat, Drill). Use the arrow keys to navigate and [=] to select.
4.4. Angle Units (DRG)
The calculator supports Degree (DEG), Radian (RAD), and Grad (GRAD) angle units. Press [DRG] to change the angle unit. The current unit is indicated on the display.
4.5. Memory Functions
