4. Getting Started (Setup)

4.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Slide the battery cover open.
  3. Insert the included AAA battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery cover securely.

4.2. Downloading the BACtrack App

For full functionality and smartphone connectivity, download the free BACtrack App:

4.3. Pairing the Device (App Mode)

To use your BACtrack C6 with the smartphone app:

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
  2. Open the BACtrack App.
  3. Turn on your BACtrack C6. The device will automatically attempt to connect to the app.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts in the app to complete the pairing process.

5. Operating Your BACtrack C6

The BACtrack C6 offers two modes of operation: Standalone Mode and App Mode.

5.1. Standalone Mode

In Standalone Mode, your BAC results are displayed directly on the C6's screen without requiring a smartphone connection.

  1. Press the power button to turn on the device.
  2. Wait for the device to warm up and display "BLOW".
  3. Follow the proper testing technique (see Section 5.3).
  4. Your BAC result will be displayed on the device screen.

5.2. App Mode

In App Mode, your BAC results are wirelessly transmitted to the BACtrack App on your smartphone, unlocking additional features.

  1. Ensure your BACtrack C6 is paired with the app (see Section 4.3).
  2. Open the BACtrack App on your smartphone.
  3. Press the power button on the C6 to turn it on. It will connect to the app.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions in the app and the device prompts.
  5. Follow the proper testing technique (see Section 5.3).
  6. Your BAC result will be displayed in the app, along with other insights.

5.3. Proper Testing Technique

For accurate results, proper blowing technique is essential:

  1. Attach a clean mouthpiece to the device.
  2. When the device displays "BLOW" (or the app prompts you), take a deep breath.
  3. Blow steadily and continuously into the mouthpiece for approximately 5 seconds until the device beeps or indicates completion. Do not stop blowing prematurely.
  4. Wait for your result to be displayed.

Over time, all breathalyzers require recalibration to maintain accuracy. BACtrack recommends recalibrating your C6 every 6-12 months, or after approximately 200-300 tests, whichever comes first. 7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your BACtrack C6, try the following solutions:

"FLOW" or "LOW BATTERY" error."FLOW" indicates insufficient breath sample; blow longer and stronger. "LOW BATTERY" means the battery needs replacement.
