2. Setup and Initial Adjustment

Before using your watch, it is important to set the time and date correctly. Familiarize yourself with the crown and pushers.

2.1 Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click position (position 3).
  2. Turn the crown to move the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Consider AM/PM when setting the time if your watch has a date function that changes at midnight.
  3. Push the crown back in to the normal position (position 1).

2.2 Setting the Date

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click position (position 2).
  2. Turn the crown to set the date. Avoid setting the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this may interfere with the date change mechanism.
  3. Push the crown back in to the normal position (position 1).

2.3 Chronograph Hand Zero Position Adjustment

If the chronograph hands (1/10 second, second, or minute) do not return to the zero position after resetting, they may need adjustment.

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click position (position 3).
  2. Press pusher A (top pusher) to advance the 1/10 second chronograph hand. Press pusher B (bottom pusher) to advance the chronograph second hand. Pressing and holding the pushers will move the hands continuously.
  3. Once all chronograph hands are aligned to the zero position, push the crown back in to the normal position (position 1).

3. Operating the Chronograph and Tachymeter

3.1 Using the Chronograph

The chronograph measures elapsed time up to 60 minutes in 1/10 second increments.

  1. Start: Press pusher A to start the chronograph measurement. The chronograph second hand, 1/10 second hand, and minute hand will begin moving.
  2. Stop: Press pusher A again to stop the chronograph. The elapsed time will be indicated by the chronograph hands.
  3. Reset: After stopping, press pusher B to reset all chronograph hands to the zero position.
  4. Split Time (if applicable): This model supports standard start/stop/reset. For split time functionality, refer to specific model variations if available.

3.2 Using the Tachymeter

The tachymeter scale on the bezel can be used to measure speed over a known distance (e.g., 1 kilometer or 1 mile) or to measure production rates.

  1. Start the chronograph at the beginning of the measured distance (e.g., start of a kilometer).
  2. Stop the chronograph when the distance is completed.
  3. The number on the tachymeter scale indicated by the chronograph second hand shows the average speed per hour (e.g., if the second hand points to '120', the speed is 120 units per hour).

4. Maintenance and Care

4.1 Water Resistance

Your Lorus RM329EX9 watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 BAR). This means it is suitable for swimming and snorkeling. However, it is crucial to:

  • Never operate the crown or pushers when the watch is wet or submerged in water. This can compromise the water resistance.
  • Ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.
  • Avoid exposing the watch to hot water, steam, or sudden temperature changes, which can affect seals.

4.2 Cleaning

To maintain the appearance of your watch:

  • Wipe the case and bracelet periodically with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stainless steel bracelets, a soft brush with mild soapy water can be used, followed by thorough rinsing and drying.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

4.3 Battery Replacement

The watch is powered by one LR44 battery. When the battery is depleted, it should be replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and function. Do not attempt to replace the battery yourself.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Watch not running: Check if the crown is fully pushed in. If the watch still does not run, the battery may need replacement.
  • Chronograph hands not resetting to zero: Perform the chronograph hand zero position adjustment as described in Section 2.3.
  • Date not changing: Ensure the time is set correctly, considering AM/PM. Avoid setting the date during the restricted hours (9 PM - 3 AM).

For issues not resolved by these steps, please contact an authorized Lorus service center.
