5. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning and descaling will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your kettle.
Cleaning the Exterior
- Always unplug the kettle and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the surface.
- Never immerse the kettle or its power base in water.
Descaling
Limescale buildup can affect the kettle's performance and taste of the water. Descale regularly, especially in hard water areas.
- Fill the kettle with a mixture of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Ensure the mixture covers the limescale but does not exceed the MAX fill line.
- Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Allow the mixture to soak in the kettle for at least 30 minutes, or longer for heavy buildup.
- Empty the kettle and rinse thoroughly with fresh water several times.
- If necessary, repeat the process or use a commercial descaling solution according to its instructions.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your kettle, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Kettle does not turn on:
- Ensure the power base is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
- Check if the On/Off switch is pressed down.
- Verify there is water in the kettle (dry-run protection prevents operation without water).
- Water is not heating:
- Confirm the kettle is properly seated on the power base.
- Check if the On/Off switch is engaged and the indicator light is on.
- Kettle switches off too soon:
- Limescale buildup can cause premature shut-off. Descale the kettle as described in the 'Maintenance' section.
- Ensure the lid is fully closed.
- Lid does not close properly:
- Check for any obstructions preventing the lid from closing.
- Ensure the lid mechanism is clean and free of debris.
If the problem persists, please contact customer support.
