4. Setup and Installation
The BONTEC GDM02U offers two installation methods: Desk Clamp and Grommet Base.
4.1 Choose Your Installation Method

Image 4.1: Illustration of the two available installation methods: Desk Clamp and Grommet Base. The desk clamp is suitable for desk thicknesses between 10mm and 83mm. The grommet base requires a hole diameter of 10mm to 50mm and is also suitable for desk thicknesses between 10mm and 83mm.
4.2 Desk Clamp Installation
- Attach the C-clamp to the main pole.
- Position the clamp on the edge of your desk and tighten the screw until secure. Ensure the desk thickness is between 10mm and 83mm.
- Slide the monitor arms onto the pole and secure them at the desired height.
4.3 Grommet Base Installation
- If your desk has a grommet hole (10-50mm diameter), insert the grommet base through the hole.
- Secure the base from underneath the desk using the provided plate and nut. Ensure the desk thickness is between 10mm and 83mm.
- Slide the monitor arms onto the pole and secure them at the desired height.
4.4 Attaching Monitors
- Attach the VESA plates to the back of your monitors using the appropriate screws (M4 or M5, depending on your monitor). Ensure the VESA pattern is 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Carefully slide the monitors (with VESA plates attached) onto the arms' mounting heads. The VESA plates have open top slots for easy hanging.
- Secure the monitors by tightening the bottom screws on the VESA plates.

Image 4.2: Detail of VESA plate attachment and cable management. Monitors are easily mounted by sliding them onto the VESA plate's top slots. The integrated cable management system helps organize power and display cables for a tidy workspace.
4.5 Cable Management
Route your monitor cables through the integrated cable management channels on the underside of the arms. This helps maintain a clean and organized workspace.
5. Operation and Adjustment
The BONTEC GDM02U monitor arm offers extensive flexibility for optimal viewing angles and ergonomic positioning.
5.1 Adjusting Monitor Position
- Height Adjustment: The gas spring allows for smooth vertical movement. Gently push or pull the monitor to the desired height (up to 400mm).
- Tilt: Tilt the monitor +90° (upwards) to -45° (downwards) to reduce glare and optimize viewing.
- Swivel: Swivel the monitor ±90° left or right. The arm itself can swivel 360° at the base and 250° at the elbow joint.
- Rotation: Rotate the monitor 360° for landscape or portrait orientation.

Image 5.1: Demonstrates the extensive flexibility of the monitor arm. It features 360° swivel at the base, 250° swivel at the arm's elbow, and ±90° swivel along with 360° rotation at the monitor mounting plate, allowing for wide viewing angles and orientation changes.

Image 5.2: Illustrates the full dynamic motion of the arm, including a tilt range of +90° to -45°. It shows a maximum arm extension of 525mm and a maximum height adjustment of 400mm. A close-up highlights the tension adjustment screw for the gas spring arm.
5.2 Gas Spring Tension Adjustment
If your monitor does not stay at the desired height, or if it is too difficult to move, you may need to adjust the gas spring tension. Use the provided Allen key to turn the tension screw located on the arm joint:
- Turn clockwise (-) to decrease tension (for lighter monitors).
- Turn counter-clockwise (+) to increase tension (for heavier monitors).
Adjust gradually until the monitor holds its position firmly and moves smoothly.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the monitor arm with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Periodic Checks: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they are tight and secure. Re-tighten if necessary.
- Gas Spring: The gas spring is designed for long-term use and generally requires no maintenance. Do not attempt to disassemble the gas spring cylinder.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Monitor sags or does not stay at desired height. | Gas spring tension is too low for the monitor's weight. | Increase gas spring tension by turning the adjustment screw counter-clockwise (+). |
| Monitor is difficult to move or adjust. | Gas spring tension is too high for the monitor's weight. | Decrease gas spring tension by turning the adjustment screw clockwise (-). |
| Monitor arm feels unstable. | Desk clamp or grommet base is not securely tightened. | Re-tighten the desk clamp or grommet base. Ensure the desk is stable. |
| Monitors are not level. | Minor misalignment during installation or adjustment. | Adjust the tilt and rotation of individual VESA plates to level the monitors. |
