Operating Instructions
The Presto Electric Skillet is designed for ease of use and efficient cooking. Follow these steps for operation:
- Ensure the skillet is clean and dry before use.
- Place the skillet on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Insert the Control Master® heat control into the skillet's receptacle.
- Plug the power cord into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
- Set the desired cooking temperature using the dial on the Control Master® heat control. The indicator light will illuminate when the skillet is heating and turn off when the set temperature is reached. It will cycle on and off during cooking to maintain the temperature.
- Add ingredients to the skillet. For best results with the nonstick surface, use nylon, plastic, or wooden utensils.
- Place the tempered glass cover on the skillet to retain heat and moisture, especially for stewing or baking. The pour spout can also act as a vent if the lid is slightly offset.
- Monitor your food through the glass cover. Adjust temperature as needed.
- After cooking, turn the heat control to the 'OFF' position and unplug the unit from the outlet. Allow the skillet to cool completely before cleaning.

The Presto Electric Skillet is ideal for preparing a variety of meals, from breakfast to dinner.

The skillet's deluxe nonstick surface ensures effortless cleaning and its high sidewalls provide ample food capacity.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Proper cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your electric skillet and ensure continued nonstick performance.
- Always unplug the heat control and allow the skillet to cool completely before cleaning.
- Remove the Control Master® heat control from the skillet. The heat control unit should never be immersed in water or other liquids.
- The skillet pan and glass cover are fully immersible and dishwasher safe. For best results, wash by hand with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge or cloth.
- For stubborn food residue, fill the skillet with warm, soapy water and let it soak for a few minutes before cleaning.
- Do not use steel wool or abrasive cleaners on the nonstick surface, as this can damage the coating.
- Ensure all parts are thoroughly dry before storing.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Presto Electric Skillet, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Skillet not heating: Ensure the Control Master® heat control is fully inserted into the skillet's receptacle and the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet. Check your home's circuit breaker.
- Temperature inconsistent: Verify that the heat control dial is set to the desired temperature. Ensure the skillet is not overloaded with food, which can affect heat distribution.
- Food sticking: Although the skillet has a nonstick surface, using a small amount of cooking oil or spray can further prevent sticking. Ensure the skillet is preheated to the correct temperature before adding food. Avoid using metal utensils that can scratch the nonstick coating.
- Excessive condensation on lid: This is normal during cooking, especially with high-moisture foods. The pour spout can be slightly offset to allow some steam to escape if desired.
If problems persist, contact Presto customer service for further assistance.
