4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale.
- Using a small screwdriver, carefully remove the screws securing the battery compartment cover.
- Open the battery compartment.
- Insert the 2 x AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screws. Ensure the cover is tightly sealed to maintain the scale's waterproof integrity.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Power On/Off
- To turn on the scale, press the Power button (
) located on the right side of the display. The display will show '0 g' (or '0 oz' depending on the last used unit). - To turn off the scale, press and hold the Power button for a few seconds. The scale will also automatically turn off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.
5.2. Weighing Items
- Turn on the scale. Ensure the display shows '0 g' or '0 oz'.
- Place the item(s) to be weighed directly onto the weighing surface.
- The weight will be displayed on the LCD screen.

5.3. Tare Function (Add & Weigh)
The Tare function allows you to weigh multiple ingredients consecutively in the same container, or to subtract the weight of a container.
- Place an empty container on the weighing surface. The display will show its weight.
- Press the Tare button (
) located on the left side of the display. The display will reset to '0 g' (or '0 oz'). - Add your first ingredient to the container. The display will show the weight of only the ingredient.
- To add another ingredient, press the Tare button again to reset the display to '0 g' before adding the next item.

5.4. Unit Conversion (g/kg to oz/lb)
To switch between metric (grams/kilograms) and imperial (ounces/pounds) units:
- Turn off the scale.
- Carefully remove the battery compartment cover on the underside of the scale by unscrewing the six screws.
- Inside the battery compartment, locate the unit conversion button.
- Press this button to toggle between 'g' (grams/kilograms) and 'oz' (ounces/pounds).
- Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it tightly with the screws to maintain the waterproof seal.
- Turn the scale back on. The display will now show the selected unit.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
The Soehnle Aqua Proof Digital Kitchen Scale is designed for easy cleaning due to its waterproof construction.
- Hand Washing: The scale can be rinsed under running water. Ensure the battery compartment is securely closed before washing.
- Dishwasher Safe: The scale is dishwasher safe. Place it in the dishwasher, ensuring the battery compartment is properly sealed.

7. Troubleshooting
- Display shows 'Lo': This indicates low battery power. Replace the AAA batteries as described in Section 4.1.
- Display shows 'Err': This indicates the scale is overloaded. Remove items immediately to prevent damage. Ensure the total weight does not exceed 10 kg.
- Inaccurate readings:
- Ensure the scale is on a flat, stable surface.
- Check that no objects are touching the scale or interfering with its feet.
- Recalibrate by turning the scale off and on again.
- Scale does not turn on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are new or fully charged.
