Setup

1. Unpacking

Carefully remove the belt sander and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect the tool for any signs of damage. Do not use the tool if it appears damaged.

2. Attaching the Dust Collection Box

• Locate the dust collection box and the corresponding port on the sander.
• Slide the dust collection box onto the port until it clicks securely into place.
• For external dust extraction, connect a suitable vacuum cleaner hose to the external dust extraction port.

3. Installing the Sanding Belt

1. Ensure the tool is unplugged from the power source.
2. Locate the belt tensioning lever or button. Activate the tool-free tensioning system to release tension on the belt rollers.
3. Slide the new sanding belt (e.g., 75 x 533 mm) onto the rollers, ensuring the arrow on the belt matches the direction of rotation indicated on the tool.
4. Release the tensioning system to secure the belt.
5. Manually adjust the belt tracking knob to center the belt on the rollers. This prevents the belt from running off during operation.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

• Plug the tool into a suitable power outlet.
• To turn on, press the ON switch. For continuous operation, engage the lock-on button if available.
• To turn off, release the ON switch. If locked on, press the ON switch again to release the lock.

2. Adjusting Belt Speed

The PBS 900 C3 features a rotary wheel for variable belt speed control. Rotate the wheel to increase or decrease the sanding belt speed. Lower speeds are suitable for fine finishing, while higher speeds are for rapid material removal.

3. Sanding Techniques

• Always start the sander before placing it on the workpiece.
• Apply light, even pressure. Let the tool do the work. Excessive pressure can reduce efficiency and damage the workpiece or tool.
• Move the sander smoothly and consistently across the surface in the direction of the wood grain.
• Avoid tilting the sander, as this can create uneven surfaces or gouges.
• When finished, lift the sander from the workpiece before turning it off.

4. Dust Extraction

The integrated dust collection system helps keep your work area cleaner. Regularly empty the dust collection box to maintain optimal suction performance. For larger projects or finer dust, connect an external dust extractor to the designated port.

1. Cleaning

• Always unplug the tool before cleaning.
• Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean dust and debris from the ventilation openings.
• Wipe the exterior of the tool with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
