Door Knocker Mode:

In this mode, the motion sensor is integrated into the provided door knocker casing and installed directly around your existing peephole. This provides a discreet appearance.

  1. Remove your existing peephole.
  2. Insert the new 12mm peephole (included) through the door from the outside.
  3. From the inside, attach the base flange and tighten it using the provided tool.
  4. Place the motion sensor (MAS200) into the door knocker casing.
  5. Mount the door knocker casing with the motion sensor onto the exterior side of the door, aligning it with the peephole.
  6. Attach the main unit to the interior side of the door, aligning it with the peephole and base flange. Secure it firmly.

Portable Mode:

For more flexible placement, the motion sensor can be used with the magnetic wall mount and hidden near your front door. This allows for optimal motion detection coverage.

  1. Attach the magnetic wall mount to a suitable surface near your door using the provided screws or adhesive.
  2. Mount the motion sensor (MAS200) onto the magnetic wall mount.
  3. Install the main unit and peephole as described in steps 1-3 of the Door Knocker Mode.

Operation

The Brinno SHC1000 is designed for simple operation. Here’s how to use its main features:

Viewing Visitors:

To view who is at your door, simply press the central button on the main unit. The large LCD screen will display a clear image from the peephole camera.

Digital Visitor Log:

The camera automatically records images of visitors when motion or knocking is detected. These images are stored on the microSD card with a time and date stamp.

  • Access the menu on the main unit to browse recorded images.
  • Use the navigation buttons to scroll through the visitor log.
  • Images can be transferred to a computer by removing the microSD card and inserting it into a card reader.

Adjusting Knock Sensor Sensitivity:

The knocking sensor sensitivity can be adjusted to suit your door's thickness and environment. This ensures optimal detection without false triggers.

  1. Power on the main unit and navigate to the settings menu.
  2. Select the "Adjust Knock Sensor" option.
  3. Use the up/down buttons to increase or decrease sensitivity. A higher value is suitable for thicker doors, while a lower value is for thinner doors.
  4. Test the sensitivity by gently knocking on your door. The device will display a "TEST" icon if the knock is detected.
  5. Confirm your setting to save.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: The SHC1000 uses 4 AA batteries. Replace them when the low battery indicator appears on the screen. Ensure the device is powered off before replacing batteries.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the LCD screen and camera lens. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • MicroSD Card Management: Regularly back up important recordings from your microSD card. Format the card periodically to maintain optimal performance.

Troubleshooting

Device not powering on:
Ensure batteries are correctly installed and fully charged. Check the power switch on the side of the main unit.
No images recorded:
Verify that the microSD card is properly inserted and has sufficient storage space. Check if the motion sensor (MAS200) is activated and paired correctly. Adjust the motion and knock sensor sensitivity settings.
Poor image quality:
Ensure the camera lens and peephole are clean and free from obstructions. The optical peephole lens is designed for clear images on the LCD display.
Motion/Knock sensor not detecting:
Confirm the MAS200 motion sensor is activated (blue LED flashing). Re-pair the motion sensor with the main unit if necessary (refer to the "Re-pairing Motion Sensor" section). Adjust sensitivity settings for both motion and knock sensors.
Short battery life:
Ensure you are using high-quality AA batteries. Frequent triggers or extreme temperatures can reduce battery life. Consider reducing sensor sensitivity if experiencing excessive false triggers.
