2. Setup and Charging
Battery Installation:
The ProTac 2L-X USB is designed to operate with either one Streamlight SL-B26™ protected Li-Ion USB rechargeable battery or two CR123A lithium batteries. Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.

Charging the SL-B26 Battery:
To charge the included SL-B26 Li-Ion battery, simply plug the USB cable into the battery's charging port and connect it to a USB power source. The battery features an integrated charging indicator. A red light indicates charging, and a green light indicates a full charge.
For optimal performance, fully charge the battery before first use.
3. Operating Instructions
TEN-TAP Programming:
The ProTac 2L-X features Streamlight's TEN-TAP Programming, allowing you to select one of three user-selectable programs:
- Program 1 (Factory Default): High / Strobe / Low
- Program 2: High Only
- Program 3: Low / High
To change programs, rapidly tap the tail switch 9 times (within 0.4 seconds per tap) and hold it down on the 10th tap. The light will flash to indicate the current program number. Continue holding the switch until the light turns off (approximately 1 second), then release. The light is now reset to the next program.
Mode Selection:
Once a program is selected, operate the flashlight using the multi-function, push-button tactical tail switch:
- Momentary On: Lightly press and hold the tail switch. Release to turn off.
- Constant On: Fully press the tail switch until it clicks. Press again to turn off.
- Changing Modes (Program 1 & 3): From momentary or constant on, rapidly tap the switch to cycle through modes (e.g., High to Strobe to Low in Program 1).

4. Maintenance
Cleaning:
Regularly clean the lens with a soft, lint-free cloth. For the body, wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or internal components.
O-Ring Lubrication:
To maintain the flashlight's water resistance, periodically inspect and lubricate the O-rings with a silicone-based lubricant. Replace O-rings if they appear damaged or worn.
Battery Care:
For the rechargeable SL-B26 battery, ensure it is charged regularly, especially if the flashlight is not used for extended periods. If using CR123A batteries, replace both batteries simultaneously with new ones of the same type and brand to prevent damage.
5. Troubleshooting
Light Not Turning On or Dim:
- Check Battery: Ensure the battery is fully charged (SL-B26) or replace with fresh CR123A batteries.
- Battery Orientation: Verify that batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
- Tail Cap: Tighten the tail cap securely. A loose tail cap can prevent electrical contact.
- Contacts: Clean battery contacts and the tail cap contact points with a clean cloth to remove any dirt or corrosion.
Mode Cycling Issues:
- Tap Speed: Ensure rapid and consistent taps when attempting to change programs or cycle through modes.
- Reset Program: If modes are not cycling correctly, try resetting the TEN-TAP program as described in the "Operating Instructions" section.
