Overview

The SIMOLIO SM-823D Pro Wireless Digital TV Headset is designed to enhance your television viewing experience with clear, amplified sound. The 2.4 GHz FHSS wireless technology ensures a stable, lag-free audio transmission up to 30.5 meters (100 feet). Setup

1. Package Contents

Before beginning, ensure all components are present:

2. Connecting the Transmitter to Your TV/Audio Source

The transmitter supports Digital Optical (Toslink/SPDIF), RCA, and 3.5mm AUX audio outputs. Choose only one connection method.

1. Identify Audio Output: Locate an available Digital Optical, RCA, or 3.5mm audio output port on your TV or audio source (e.g., cable box, set-top box).
2. Connect Cable: Use the appropriate cable (Optical, RCA, or 3.5mm) to connect the audio output of your TV/audio source to the corresponding input on the SIMOLIO transmitter.
3. Power On: Connect the power adapter to the transmitter and plug it into an electrical outlet. The transmitter's indicator light should illuminate.

Important Notes:

• For Digital Optical connections, you MUST set your TV's audio output format to PCM. Refer to your TV's audio settings menu.
• Only one audio cable connection is required.
• Some TVs may mute their internal speakers when an external audio device is connected. This is a TV feature, not a headset malfunction. Consult your TV's manual for options to enable simultaneous audio output.

3. Initial Headset Use

The SM-823D Pro uses 2.4 GHz FHSS technology, which means no manual pairing is required. Once the transmitter is powered and connected, and the headset is charged and turned on, they will automatically connect.

Operating Instructions

1. Wearing the Headset

The headset is designed to be worn comfortably under the chin. The ear tips should rest gently in your ears, and the SIMOLIO label should face outwards.

• Ear Tips: Select the ear tips that provide the best fit and comfort for your ears.
• Decompression Hanger Loops: For extended wear or to reduce pressure, attach the included decompression hanger loops. These loops help distribute the headset's weight, similar to how glasses are worn.

2. Audio Settings and Controls

The headset features various controls to customize your listening experience:

• Volume Control: Use the volume buttons on the headset to adjust the listening level.
• Tone Control: Select between Treble, Normal, or Bass settings to optimize sound clarity based on your preference and the audio content.
• Balance Control: Adjust the left/right volume balance to compensate for hearing differences between your ears.
• Mono/Stereo Mode: Switch to Stereo mode for a richer music experience or select Mono mode for clearer TV dialogue, especially beneficial for speech.
• Personal Sound Amplifier (MIC Button): Press the MIC button to activate the personal sound amplifier. This allows you to hear nearby conversations without removing the headset, temporarily amplifying ambient sounds.

3. Optimizing Source Volume

For stable and clear audio output, ensure the volume on your TV or connected AV device (e.g., cable box) is set to a sufficient level. Recommended minimum levels are typically 30% for TV boxes and 40% for TV volume.

4. Muting TV Speakers

To watch TV quietly without disturbing others, you can mute your TV's internal speakers. This can usually be done by pressing the MUTE button on your TV remote or by selecting an external speaker option in your TV's audio output settings.

5. Wireless Range

The 2.4 GHz FHSS wireless signal provides a robust connection that can pass through walls and ceilings, allowing you to move freely within a range of up to 30.5 meters (100 feet) from the transmitter while listening.

Maintenance

1. Battery Charging

The headset features a built-in rechargeable Lithium-polymer battery. A full charge provides approximately 5 to 7 hours of continuous operation, depending on usage and volume settings. A complete charge cycle takes approximately 14 hours.

2. Battery Replacement

The battery in the headset is designed to be replaceable. If you experience significantly reduced battery life over time, contact SIMOLIO support for replacement options or instructions.

3. Cleaning

Wipe the headset and transmitter with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or immerse the devices in water.

Troubleshooting

No Sound from Headset

• Check PCM Setting: If using an optical connection, ensure your TV's audio output format is set to PCM.
• Verify Cable Connection: Confirm that only one audio cable (optical, RCA, or 3.5mm) is correctly connected from your TV/AV device to the transmitter.
• TV Audio Output Settings: Access your TV's audio settings menu. You may need to activate the TV's audio output for external speakers (e.g., select "External TV Speakers" or "Audio Out"). Refer to your TV's user manual for specific instructions.
• Adjust Source Volume: Increase the volume on your TV or connected AV devices (cable box, set-top box) to a sufficient level.
• Minimize Interference: Position the transmitter as far as possible from other Wi-Fi devices, especially your Wi-Fi router, to prevent signal interference.
• Test Audio Source: To confirm your TV is producing sound, connect a standard wired headphone directly to the TV's audio output. Alternatively, test the SIMOLIO unit with a mobile phone or PC to verify its functionality.

TV Speakers Mute When Headset is Used

• This behavior is dependent on your TV's design. Consult your TV's user manual or contact the TV manufacturer to determine if simultaneous audio output is supported.
• Many modern TVs allow internal speakers and external audio devices to operate concurrently. For example, some LG TVs offer an option like "Internal TV Speaker + Audio Out (Optical)", and some Samsung TVs allow selecting "TV Speaker" from audio output lists.
• If your TV is an older model that mutes internal speakers when an external audio device is connected, and you primarily watch content from a single fixed AV device (e.g., a cable box), you can connect the SIMOLIO unit directly to that AV device instead of the TV.
