2. Safety Information

  • Wall Material Compatibility: Different wall materials require different types of fastening devices. Always use screws and wall plugs that are suitable for the walls in your home. Fastening devices are not included with this product. Consult a qualified professional if you are unsure about the appropriate fasteners for your wall type.
  • Maximum Load Capacity: The maximum load for this shelf is 3 kg (6.6 lbs). Do not exceed this weight limit to prevent damage to the shelf or injury. Distribute weight evenly across the shelf.
  • Secure Installation: Ensure the shelf is securely fastened to the wall according to the assembly instructions. A loose shelf can pose a falling hazard.
  • Children's Safety: Do not allow children to climb on or hang from the shelf.

3. Package Contents

Before beginning assembly, verify that all components are present and undamaged. This package contains the following:

  • 1 x LACK Wall Shelf (White, 30x26cm)
  • Concealed suspension fittings (pre-installed within the shelf)

Note: Screws and wall plugs for mounting the shelf to your specific wall material are NOT included and must be purchased separately.

4. Assembly and Installation

This product requires assembly and wall mounting. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Prepare the Wall: Choose a suitable location on your wall. Ensure there are no hidden electrical wires or water pipes in the drilling area.
  2. Mark Drilling Points: Hold the shelf against the wall at the desired height and use a pencil to mark the positions for the mounting screws. The shelf has pre-drilled holes for the concealed suspension fittings.
  3. Drill Holes: Using an appropriate drill bit for your wall material, drill holes at the marked positions. If necessary, insert wall plugs into the drilled holes.
  4. Attach Screws: Insert the appropriate screws into the wall plugs (or directly into the wall if suitable) but do not tighten them completely. Leave a small gap between the screw head and the wall to allow the shelf's mounting brackets to slide on.
  5. Mount the Shelf: Align the concealed suspension fittings on the back of the shelf with the screw heads on the wall. Slide the shelf downwards onto the screws until it is securely seated.
  6. Secure the Shelf: Gently push the shelf towards the wall to ensure it is flush and stable. If there is any wobble, remove the shelf, tighten the screws slightly, and re-mount.

5. Usage

Once securely installed, the LACK wall shelf can be used to display decorative items, books, or other lightweight objects. Remember to adhere to the maximum load capacity of 3 kg (6.6 lbs) to ensure stability and safety. Distribute the weight evenly across the shelf surface.

6. Maintenance and Care

To keep your LACK wall shelf clean and in good condition, follow these simple care instructions:

  • Cleaning: Wipe clean with a cloth dampened in a mild cleaner. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the acrylic painted surface.
  • Drying: Wipe dry with a clean cloth immediately after cleaning to prevent water spots or moisture damage.
  • Dusting: Regularly dust the surface with a soft, dry cloth.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Shelf is not flush with the wall: Ensure the screws are not overtightened, preventing the shelf from sliding fully onto the mounting hardware. Adjust the screw depth as needed.
  • Shelf feels wobbly after installation: This indicates the shelf is not securely mounted. Remove the shelf, ensure the wall plugs (if used) are firmly seated, and tighten the screws further before re-mounting the shelf. If the issue persists, consider using stronger wall plugs or consulting a professional.
  • Missing parts: If any components were missing from the package upon opening, please contact IKEA customer service with your product details and proof of purchase.
