Setup

Follow these steps to set up your Define R6 computer case and install your components.

  1. Unboxing and Inspection: Carefully remove the case from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Retain all packaging materials for future transport.
  2. Accessing the Interior: The side panels are secured with a push-to-lock latching mechanism. Gently push the top edge of the side panel to release the latch, then pull the panel away from the chassis.
  3. Motherboard Installation: Install the necessary motherboard standoffs. Carefully place your motherboard into the chassis, aligning it with the standoffs, and secure it with screws. The case supports Extended ATX, ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX motherboards.
  4. Power Supply Installation: Install your power supply unit (PSU) into the dedicated compartment at the bottom rear of the case. Ensure proper orientation for airflow.
  5. Storage Drive Installation: The Define R6 supports six 3.5"/2.5" drives and two 2.5" drives. Drive trays can be repositioned or removed to accommodate various configurations. Refer to the internal layout for specific mounting points.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and performance of your computer system.

  • Dust Filter Cleaning: The Define R6 features easily removable dust filters on the front, top, and bottom. Periodically remove and clean these filters to maintain optimal airflow and prevent dust buildup inside the case.
  • Exterior Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior surfaces of the case. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Internal Dust Removal: With the system powered off and unplugged, use compressed air to gently remove dust from internal components and fan blades.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter.

  • System Not Powering On:
    • Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the PSU and the wall outlet.
    • Verify that the PSU switch is in the 'ON' position.
    • Check all internal power connections, including the 24-pin motherboard power and CPU power cables.
    • Confirm that the front panel power button cable is correctly connected to the motherboard's front panel header.
  • Excessive Noise:
    • Check if all fans are securely mounted and free from obstructions.
    • Ensure cables are not interfering with fan blades.
    • Verify that all screws for components (e.g., GPU, drives) are tightened to prevent vibrations.
  • Fan Power Hub Issues: If using the integrated fan power hub, ensure it is correctly connected to the power supply. If you experience issues such as electrical shorts or smoke, immediately power down the system. Consider connecting fans directly to the motherboard as an alternative.
