Setup and Installation
Professional installation is recommended for optimal performance and safety. Ensure the vehicle's battery is disconnected before beginning installation.
1. Pre-Installation Check
- Verify the unit's dimensions (L 178mm x H 100mm) fit your car's dashboard opening.
- Ensure all necessary wiring harnesses and accessories are available.
2. Wiring Connections
Connect the main power harness to your vehicle's wiring. Pay close attention to the following specific connections:
- Power (Yellow): Constant 12V power.
- Accessory (Red): Switched 12V power (ignition).
- Ground (Black): Connect to a secure chassis ground point.
- Reverse (Pink): Connect this wire from the unit's harness to the vehicle's reverse light wire. This enables automatic display of the backup camera when reverse gear is engaged.
- Parking Brake (Green): For safety, this wire typically requires connection to the parking brake circuit. To enable video playback while the vehicle is in motion (for passenger viewing only), this wire can be connected to a ground source (e.g., a screw on the radio chassis). Note: Check local laws regarding video playback while driving.
- Speaker Wires: Connect according to the provided wiring diagram, ensuring correct polarity for each speaker.
3. GPS Antenna Installation
Mount the GPS antenna in a location with a clear view of the sky, such as on the dashboard or under the windshield, away from metal obstructions that could interfere with the signal.
4. Backup Camera Installation
Install the backup camera at the rear of your vehicle. Connect the camera's video output (yellow RCA) to the unit's camera input. The camera's power wire should be connected to the vehicle's reverse light power, and its ground wire to a chassis ground. Ensure the small red wire protruding from the RCA cable near the camera end is also connected to the reverse light power, and the red wire near the head unit end is connected to the unit's "Reverse (Pink)" wire.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off
Press the POWER button on the front panel to turn the unit on or off. The unit will typically power on automatically with the vehicle's ignition.
2. Radio Operation
Press the RADIO button to enter FM/AM mode. Use the touch screen controls to scan for stations, save presets, and adjust settings like LOC (Local/Distant) and EQ (Equalizer).
3. Bluetooth Connectivity
Press the BT button to access the Bluetooth menu. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone and search for "CarBT" (or similar name). The default pairing PIN is 0000. Once paired, you can make/receive hands-free calls and stream audio.
4. DVD/CD Playback
Insert a DVD or CD into the disc slot. The unit will automatically switch to DVD mode and begin playback. Use the on-screen controls for playback functions (play, pause, skip, etc.).
5. GPS Navigation
Press the MAP button to launch the GPS navigation software. The pre-installed 8GB map card contains regional map data. Follow the on-screen prompts to set destinations, view routes, and access navigation settings. Ensure the GPS antenna is properly installed for accurate positioning.
6. USB and SD Card Playback
Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port or an SD card into the designated slot. The unit will detect compatible media files (audio, video, images) and allow you to browse and play them through the respective media player interfaces.
7. Steering Wheel Control (SWC)
If your vehicle supports analog steering wheel controls, connect the SWC wires from the unit's harness to your vehicle's SWC wires. Access the "Steering Wheel Control" settings in the unit's menu to program the buttons. This unit does not support CANBUS systems.
8. Calendar Function
Access the calendar function from the main menu to view the current date and time. Time settings can usually be adjusted within the system's general settings.
Maintenance
- Screen Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the touchscreen. For stubborn smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
- Disc Care: Handle DVDs and CDs by their edges. Keep them clean and free of scratches to ensure smooth playback.
- Software Updates: Periodically check the manufacturer's website for any available software or map updates to ensure optimal performance and up-to-date navigation data.
- General Cleaning: Keep the unit's exterior free of dust and debris. Ensure ventilation slots are not blocked.
