5. Hardware Installation

5.1 Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Installation

  1. Unscrew and remove the top cover of the DVR.
  2. Connect the SATA data cable and power cable to the HDD.
  3. Align the HDD with the mounting holes at the bottom of the DVR chassis and secure it with the provided screws.
  4. Replace the top cover and secure it with screws.

Note: The HDD is not included and must be purchased separately. The DVR supports one SATA HDD up to 6 TB.

5.2 Connecting Peripherals

  • Cameras: Connect analog (TVI/AHD/CVI/CVBS) cameras to the BNC video input ports. IP cameras can be added via the network.
  • Monitor: Connect a monitor to the HDMI or VGA output port.
  • Audio: Connect an audio input device to the RCA audio input port and an audio output device to the RCA audio output port.
  • Network: Connect an Ethernet cable from the RJ45 network port to your router or network switch.
  • USB Devices: Connect the USB mouse to one of the USB 2.0 ports. Other USB devices like flash drives can also be connected.
  • Power: Connect the power adapter to the DVR's power input and then to a power outlet.

6. Initial Setup

6.1 Power On and First-Time Wizard

  1. After connecting all necessary hardware, plug in the power adapter. The DVR will power on automatically.
  2. Upon first boot, the DVR will display a First-Time Wizard on the connected monitor.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up a strong administrator password, configure network settings, and format the installed HDD.

6.2 Network Configuration

For remote access and IP camera integration, configure network settings:

  • DHCP: If your network has a DHCP server, the DVR can automatically obtain an IP address.
  • Static IP: Manually assign an IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS server for a fixed network configuration.
  • Ensure the network connection is active for Hik-Connect cloud services.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Live View

After initial setup, the DVR will display live video feeds from connected cameras on the monitor. Use the USB mouse to navigate the interface, select channels, and access menus.

7.2 Recording Configuration

Access the recording settings menu to configure recording schedules, motion detection, and other event-triggered recording options for each camera channel.

7.3 Playback

To review recorded footage, enter the playback menu. You can search for recordings by date, time, and event type. The DVR supports synchronized playback for multiple channels.

7.4 Remote Access (Hik-Connect)

The DVR supports remote management via Hik-Connect. Download the Hik-Connect app on your mobile device or access the web interface to view live feeds, play back recordings, and manage settings from anywhere with an internet connection.
