LUXMAN L-505V Integrated Amplifier User Manual

Model: L-505V

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the LUXMAN L-505V Integrated Amplifier. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your new audio component. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the amplifier and retain it for future reference.

Safety Precautions

To ensure safe operation and prevent damage, observe the following precautions:

  • Do not expose the unit to rain or moisture.
  • Do not open the casing. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • Ensure proper ventilation; do not block ventilation openings.
  • Use only the specified power supply voltage.
  • Avoid placing the unit near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
  • Disconnect the power cord during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.

Setup

1. Unpacking

Carefully remove the amplifier from its packaging. Retain all packing materials for future transport or storage.

2. Placement

Place the amplifier on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust or humidity. Ensure adequate space around the unit for proper ventilation.

3. Connecting Audio Sources

Connect your audio source components (e.g., CD player, turntable, tuner) to the corresponding input jacks on the rear panel of the L-505V using high-quality RCA cables.

  • CD Input: For CD players or other line-level sources.
  • Phono Input: For turntables. Ensure your turntable has a compatible cartridge (MM/MC).
  • Line 1/2/3 Inputs: For additional line-level sources.

4. Connecting Speakers

Connect your speakers to the speaker terminals on the rear panel. Observe correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for each speaker. The L-505V supports two sets of speakers (A and B).

  1. Ensure the amplifier is turned off before making connections.
  2. Strip approximately 10-15mm of insulation from the speaker wire ends.
  3. Loosen the binding posts, insert the bare wire, and tighten securely.
  4. Repeat for all speaker connections, ensuring correct left/right and positive/negative orientation.

5. Power Connection

After all audio and speaker connections are made, connect the supplied power cord to the AC inlet on the rear panel and then to a suitable wall outlet.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off

Press the POWER button on the front panel to turn the amplifier on or off. The power indicator will illuminate when the unit is on.

2. Input Selection

Use the INPUT SELECTOR knob or buttons to choose the desired audio source (e.g., CD, Phono, Line 1).

3. Volume Control

Adjust the overall sound level using the large VOLUME knob. Start at a low volume and gradually increase to a comfortable listening level.

4. Tone Controls

The L-505V features BASS and TREBLE controls to fine-tune the sound. Adjust these to your preference. For a pure sound, set them to their center (flat) position or engage the TONE DEFEAT function if available.

5. Balance Control

The BALANCE control adjusts the relative volume between the left and right speakers. Set it to the center position for equal output.

6. Headphone Output

Connect headphones to the PHONES jack on the front panel. This will typically mute the main speaker outputs.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the amplifier with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.

2. Storage

If storing the unit for an extended period, disconnect the power cord and store it in a cool, dry place, preferably in its original packaging.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No power Power cord disconnected; Power outlet faulty; Amplifier fuse blown. Check power cord connection; Try a different outlet; Contact service for fuse replacement.
No sound Incorrect input selected; Volume too low; Speaker cables disconnected; Mute function active. Select correct input; Increase volume; Check speaker connections; Deactivate mute.
Distorted sound Input level too high; Speaker impedance mismatch; Damaged cables. Reduce source volume; Ensure speakers match amplifier impedance; Check/replace cables.
Sound from only one channel Balance control off-center; Loose speaker cable; Faulty source cable. Adjust balance control; Check speaker connections; Check/replace source cables.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact LUXMAN customer support or an authorized service center.
