5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Making Espresso

  1. Ensure the coffee maker is unplugged and cooled.
  2. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water up to your desired level (e.g., '2-cup' or '4-cup' mark). Do not exceed the '4-cup' maximum.
  3. Add finely ground espresso coffee to the steel mesh. For 2 cups, use approximately 2 level scoops; for 4 cups, use 4 level scoops. Use the press bar to gently tamp the coffee grounds.
  4. Insert the steel mesh into the metal funnel, then attach the metal funnel to the brewing head by aligning it and turning it to the 'LOCK' position.
  5. Place the carafe with its cover on the drip tray, ensuring the carafe cover is positioned to direct coffee into the carafe.
  6. Plug the appliance into a suitable electrical outlet.
  7. Turn the Steam Knob to the 'Espresso' (left) position. The indicator light will illuminate, indicating heating.
  8. Once the indicator light turns off, the brewing process will begin. Coffee will start to drip into the carafe.
  9. When the desired amount of coffee has been brewed, or when the water tank is empty, turn the Steam Knob to the 'OFF' position.
  10. Unplug the coffee maker and carefully remove the carafe. Serve immediately.

5.2 Frothing Milk for Cappuccino/Latte

After brewing espresso, you can froth milk:

  1. Ensure there is still water in the tank or refill it if necessary.
  2. Fill a small pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to about one-third full.
  3. Position the frothing device over the drip tray or into the pitcher of milk.
  4. Turn the Steam Knob to the 'Cappuccino' (right) position. The indicator light will illuminate.
  5. Wait for the indicator light to turn off, indicating the steam is ready.
  6. Submerge the tip of the frothing device just below the surface of the milk.
  7. Slowly lower the pitcher as the milk froths, keeping the tip just below the surface to create foam.
  8. Once the desired amount of foam is achieved, turn the Steam Knob to the 'OFF' position.
  9. Carefully remove the pitcher. Wipe the frothing device immediately with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.
