1. Introduction

The ASUS Blue Cave AC2600 WiFi Router is a dual-band gigabit wireless router designed for smart homes. It features Intel Wi-Fi technology, supports AiMesh for whole-home WiFi systems, and includes lifetime internet security. Its unique design blends seamlessly into modern home decor while providing robust network performance.

2. What's in the Box

3. Setup

3.1 Initial Hardware Connection

  1. Power Off Modem: Disconnect the power from your modem.
  2. Connect Router: Connect the RJ-45 cable from your modem's LAN port to the WAN port (often labeled with an internet icon) on the ASUS Blue Cave router.
  3. Connect Devices: Connect your computer or other network devices to one of the LAN ports (labeled 1-4) on the router using an Ethernet cable, or connect wirelessly.
  4. Power On: Connect the power adapter to the router's DCIN port and plug it into a power outlet. Power on your modem, then power on the ASUS Blue Cave router.

3.2 Mobile App Setup (Recommended)

The ASUS Router App provides an easy way to set up and manage your network.

  1. Download App: Download the "ASUS Router" app from your mobile device's app store (available on Apple App Store or Google Play Store).
  2. Launch App: Open the ASUS Router app and follow the on-screen instructions to detect and set up your new Blue Cave router.
  3. Create Network: You will be prompted to create a Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and set up an administrator login account for the router.
  4. Network Optimization: The app will then optimize your network settings. This process may take a few minutes.

3.3 Web Interface Setup

Alternatively, you can set up the router using a web browser.

  1. Connect: Ensure your computer is connected to the router via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
  2. Access Interface: Open a web browser and type router.asus.com into the address bar.
  3. Login: Enter the default username (usually "admin") and password (usually "admin" or blank) when prompted. You will then be guided through the setup wizard.

4. Operating Your Router

4.1 AiMesh Configuration

The ASUS Blue Cave supports AiMesh, allowing you to create a whole-home Wi-Fi system with other AiMesh-compatible ASUS routers for extended coverage.

  1. Primary Router: Set up one Blue Cave router as the primary AiMesh router.
  2. Add Node: In the ASUS Router App or web interface, navigate to the AiMesh section and select "Add AiMesh Node".
  3. Pairing: Follow the instructions to pair additional AiMesh-compatible routers (nodes) to your primary router. Ensure nodes are within range of the primary router during the pairing process.

4.2 Parental Controls

Manage and schedule internet and app usage for family members directly from the ASUS Router App.

4.3 AiProtection (Internet Security)

The router includes built-in commercial-grade network security powered by Trend Micro.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Firmware Updates

Regularly update your router's firmware to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features.

  1. Automatic Updates: Enable automatic firmware updates through the ASUS Router App or web interface for convenience.
  2. Manual Updates: You can also manually check for and apply updates via the web interface under Administration > Firmware Upgrade.
