Maintenance
1. Cleaning
- Surface Cleaning: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe down the keyboard surface. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth with mild soap can be used, ensuring no liquid enters the keyboard.
- Keycap Cleaning: For deeper cleaning, keycaps can be carefully removed using a keycap puller (not included) and cleaned with water and mild soap. Ensure keycaps are completely dry before reattaching.
- Under Keycaps: Use compressed air to remove dust and debris from underneath the keycaps.
2. Switch Replacement
The Redragon Mitra K551RGB-1 features hot-swappable Outemu Red mechanical switches. If a switch becomes faulty, you can replace it without soldering:
- Carefully remove the keycap using a keycap puller.
- Use a switch puller (not included) to gently grip the top and bottom clips of the switch and pull it straight up.
- Align the pins of the new Outemu Red switch with the holes on the PCB and press it firmly into place until it clicks.
- Reattach the keycap.
3. Cable Management
Avoid sharp bends or excessive pulling on the USB cable to prevent damage. Use the included cable tie to manage excess cable length.
Troubleshooting
- Keyboard Not Responding:
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer.
- Try plugging the keyboard into a different USB port on your computer.
- Restart your computer.
- Test the keyboard on another computer to rule out a system-specific issue.
- Specific Keys Not Working:
- If the keyboard is hot-swappable, try replacing the faulty switch with a spare one.
- Clean around and under the affected keycap to remove any debris.
- RGB Lighting Issues:
- Ensure the brightness is not set to the minimum level (Fn + Page Up/Down).
- Cycle through different lighting modes (Fn + Insert) to see if the issue persists across modes.
