5. Setup and Wiring
Proper wiring is essential for the correct operation of the digital counter. Refer to the diagram below and the terminal descriptions for connection instructions.

Figure 4: Wiring diagram and terminal identification on the back of the counter.
Wiring Terminal Descriptions:
- Terminal 1: Positive Power Supply (DC 8-24V)
- Terminal 2: Negative Power Supply / Ground
- Terminal 3: Signal Ground (Common with Terminal 2)
- Terminal 4: Clear Input (Connect this terminal to Ground (Terminal 2 or 3) to reset the counter to 0.)
- Terminal 5: Switch Pulse Signal Input (This terminal is for general pulse input. Its specific function may vary or be unused depending on the application.)
- Terminal 6: Count Up Input (Blue wire) - Connect this terminal to Ground (Terminal 2 or 3) to increment the count by one.
- Terminal 7: Count Down Input (Black wire) - Connect this terminal to Ground (Terminal 2 or 3) to decrement the count by one. The count will not go below 0.
Important Note: The input signals for Clear, Count Up, and Count Down are active low. This means that to trigger these functions, the respective terminal must be connected to the Ground (negative power supply). An open state (not connected) is considered OFF, and a connection to Ground is considered ON.
6. Operation
Once properly wired and powered on, the counter will display the current count. The operation is straightforward:
- Power On: Apply DC 8-24V power to Terminal 1 (Positive) and Terminal 2 (Negative). The display will illuminate with the last saved count.
- Increment Count: Briefly connect Terminal 6 (Blue wire) to Ground (Terminal 2 or 3). The displayed count will increase by one.
- Decrement Count: Briefly connect Terminal 7 (Black wire) to Ground (Terminal 2 or 3). The displayed count will decrease by one. The counter will not display negative values; it will stop at 0.
- Clear Count: Briefly connect Terminal 4 to Ground (Terminal 2 or 3). The displayed count will reset to 0.
- Power Off Data Retention: The counter automatically saves the current count. When power is restored, the counter will display the last recorded value.
7. Maintenance
The Walfront Digital LED Counter requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure optimal performance and longevity:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the display and casing. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Environment: Operate the device within its specified temperature and humidity ranges. Avoid exposure to excessive moisture, dust, or direct sunlight.
- Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Power Supply: Ensure a stable DC 8-24V power supply is used to prevent damage to the unit.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your digital counter, refer to the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Display:
- Check if the power supply (DC 8-24V) is correctly connected to Terminal 1 (Positive) and Terminal 2 (Negative).
- Verify that the power supply is active and providing the correct voltage.
- Counter Not Responding to Input:
- Ensure that the input terminals (Terminal 4, 6, or 7) are correctly connected to Ground (Terminal 2 or 3) when triggering a count or clear action. Remember inputs are active low.
- Check for loose or faulty wiring connections.
- Confirm that the pulse signal duration is sufficient for the counter to register.
- Incorrect Count:
- Verify that the correct input terminal (Terminal 6 for Up, Terminal 7 for Down) is being triggered.
- Ensure there are no unintended short circuits or intermittent connections causing spurious counts.
If the problem persists after following these steps, please contact Walfront customer support for further assistance.
