This section details how to use the various functions of your AEG Induction Hob.

5.1 Basic Operation

  1. Switching On/Off: Touch the main power symbol to switch the hob on or off.
  2. Selecting a Cooking Zone: Place a suitable pan on the desired cooking zone. The hob will automatically detect the pan.
  3. Adjusting Heat Setting: Use the touch controls (e.g., '+' and '-' symbols or slider) to set the desired heat level for each zone.

5.2 Special Functions

  • Power Function (P): Activate this function for a cooking zone to achieve maximum power for a short period, ideal for boiling liquids quickly. Deactivates automatically after a set time.

  • Timers:
    • Eco-timer: Set a cooking duration. The hob will switch off the heating zone slightly before the end, utilizing residual heat to complete cooking and save energy.
    • CountUp-timer: Use this to monitor how long a cooking zone has been active.

  • Child Lock: To activate, press and hold the child lock symbol. This prevents accidental changes to settings or switching on the hob. Repeat to deactivate.
  • Locking Function: During cooking, press the lock symbol to temporarily disable the touch controls, preventing accidental adjustments. The hob remains operational.
  • OptiHeat Control (Residual Heat Indicator): After switching off a cooking zone, the display will show 'H' (hot), 'h' (warm), or no indicator (cool) to indicate the residual heat level. Do not touch 'H' zones.
  • OffSound Control: Refer to the full manual for instructions on how to customize or disable the hob's sound signals.

6. Care and Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will keep your induction hob in optimal condition.

  • Daily Cleaning: After each use, clean the hob surface with a soft cloth and a mild detergent. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
  • Stubborn Stains: For burnt-on food or stubborn stains, use a specialized ceramic hob scraper (held at a sharp angle) and a ceramic hob cleaner. Follow the product instructions.
  • Avoid: Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals as these can damage the glass surface. Do not use steam cleaners.
  • Stainless Steel Frame: Clean the OptiFit stainless steel frame with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner.
  • Before Cleaning: Always ensure the hob is cool and disconnected from the power supply before cleaning.

7. Troubleshooting

Before contacting customer service, please check the following common issues:

  • Hob does not switch on: Check if the appliance is properly connected to the power supply. Ensure the child lock is not activated.
  • Cooking zone not heating: Verify that a suitable induction-compatible pan is placed correctly on the zone. The pan base must cover at least the minimum diameter of the zone.
  • Display shows 'F' or 'E' (Error Code): This indicates an error. Try switching the hob off and on again. If the error persists, consult the full user manual or contact customer service.
  • Hob makes noise during operation: Induction hobs can produce a low humming, buzzing, or clicking sound, especially at high power settings or when using certain types of cookware. This is normal and not a fault.
  • Automatic shutdown: If a cooking zone is left on for an extended period without adjustment, it may automatically switch off as a safety measure.

For issues not listed here or if problems persist, please contact AEG customer service.
