The rear panel provides product identification details, including the model name (JetNet 2005), serial number, and hardware version. It also displays various compliance markings such as CE, FCC, and RoHS, indicating adherence to international standards.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 DIN Rail Mounting

The JetNet 2005 is designed for easy installation on a standard DIN rail. Ensure the DIN rail is securely mounted in your desired location. Align the top clip of the switch with the top edge of the DIN rail, then push the bottom of the switch firmly until it clicks into place. To remove, pull down the bottom clip and lift the switch off the rail.

4.2 Power Connection

Connect a DC power supply (18-32V) to the terminal block located on the side of the unit. Ensure correct polarity (V+ and V-). It is recommended to use a stable and regulated power supply suitable for industrial environments. Secure the wires firmly within the terminal block.

4.3 Network Connection

Connect your Ethernet devices (e.g., industrial PCs, PLCs, sensors) to any of the five 10/100Mbps RJ45 ports (P1-P5) on the front panel using standard Ethernet cables. The switch supports auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDIX, so straight-through or crossover cables can be used interchangeably.

5. Operation

5.1 Power On

Once the power supply is connected, the switch will power on automatically. The 'P' (Power) LED on the front panel will illuminate green, indicating that the device is receiving power and operating correctly.

5.2 LED Indicators

  • P (Power) LED:
    • Green: Device is powered on and functioning normally.
    • Off: Device is not powered or there is a power issue.
  • Alm (Alarm) LED:
    • Red: An alarm condition is detected (e.g., link failure on a monitored port).
    • Off: No alarm condition.
  • Port LEDs (P1-P5):
    • Green (Solid): A valid network link is established on the port.
    • Green (Blinking): Data activity is occurring on the port.
    • Off: No link detected on the port.

5.3 DIP Switch Configuration for Alarm

The DIP switches (1-5) on the side panel correspond to Ethernet ports P1-P5. By setting a DIP switch to the 'ON' position, you enable the alarm function for the corresponding port. If the link on an 'ON' configured port fails, the 'Alm' LED will illuminate red, and the alarm relay will activate. Set the DIP switch to 'OFF' to disable the alarm for that port.

6. Maintenance

The JetNet 2005 is designed for minimal maintenance. However, regular checks can help ensure optimal performance:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the device's heat sinks are not obstructed to allow for proper heat dissipation.
  • Cable Integrity: Inspect network and power cables for any signs of damage or loose connections.
  • Environmental Conditions: Verify that the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power (P LED Off):
    • Check the power supply connection to the device.
    • Verify the power source is active and providing the correct DC18-32V voltage.
    • Ensure the power supply unit is functioning correctly.
  • No Link on Port (Port LED Off):
    • Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected at both ends.
    • Verify the connected device (e.g., PC, router) is powered on and functioning.
    • Try a different Ethernet cable or port.
  • Alm LED is Red:
    • Check the link status of all ports that have their corresponding DIP switch set to 'ON'.
    • A red 'Alm' LED indicates a link failure on one of the monitored ports.
    • Address the link issue on the affected port.
  • Slow Network Performance:
    • Ensure all connected devices are operating at 10/100Mbps.
    • Check for excessive network traffic or loops (though this is an unmanaged switch, loops can still cause issues).
    • Inspect cables for damage or excessive length.
