Setup and Assembly

  1. Remove Portafilter: Unscrew and remove the standard portafilter from your Nanopresso machine.
  2. Attach Adapter Ring: Screw the double espresso adapter ring from the Barista Kit onto the Nanopresso body.
  3. Prepare Coffee Grounds: Fill one of the 16g double espresso filter baskets with finely ground coffee. For optimal results, use a slightly coarser grind than for a single shot.

  5. Insert Filter Basket: Place the filled filter basket into the double espresso adapter ring on the Nanopresso.
  6. Add Hot Water: Fill the large 140ml water tank with hot water up to the maximum fill line. Do not overfill.

Operating Instructions

Preparing Espresso (Double or Lungo)

  1. Ensure the Nanopresso Barista Kit is assembled as described in the Setup section.
  2. Place the Nanopresso directly over the included larger espresso cup or two smaller espresso cups if preparing two shots simultaneously.
  3. Begin pumping the piston. Apply steady pressure to extract the espresso.
  4. Continue pumping until the desired amount of espresso is dispensed. For a lungo, you will use more water from the larger tank.
  5. Once extraction is complete, twist the piston clockwise to lock it.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Barista Kit and Nanopresso machine.

  • After Each Use: Disassemble all components. Rinse the filter baskets, adapter ring, water tank, and espresso cup with warm water.
  • Deep Cleaning: Periodically, use a mild detergent and a soft brush to clean components thoroughly. Ensure all coffee residue is removed.
  • Drying: Allow all parts to air dry completely before reassembling or storing to prevent mold or odors.
  • Dishwasher Safety: The Barista Kit components are not dishwasher safe. Hand wash only.

Troubleshooting

  • No Espresso or Weak Flow:
    • Check if the coffee grounds are too fine or too heavily tamped, which can restrict water flow.
    • Ensure the water tank is filled with sufficient hot water.
    • Verify all components are securely tightened.
  • Espresso Not Hot Enough:
    • Preheat the Nanopresso and the espresso cup by running hot water through them before adding coffee.
    • Ensure the water used is at the correct temperature (boiling or near boiling).
  • Poor Crema:
    • Adjust coffee grind size; it might be too coarse.
    • Ensure proper tamping pressure.
    • Use fresh, high-quality espresso beans.
