Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts, including the coffee maker unit, thermal carafe, single-serve pod holder, and reusable ground coffee filter, are present.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the thermal carafe, lid, single-serve pod holder, and reusable ground coffee filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
- Placement: Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable surface away from the edge of the counter. Ensure there is adequate clearance above the unit for opening the lids.
- First Use (Priming): Fill both water reservoirs (carafe side and single-serve side) with fresh, cold water up to their maximum fill lines. Run a brew cycle on both sides without coffee to clean the internal components. Discard the water after this cycle.
Operating Instructions
A. Brewing a Full Pot (Carafe Side)
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the lid on the carafe side and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to your desired level, up to the 10-cup maximum. The water window on the side indicates the water level.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Place a standard basket-style paper filter into the filter basket, or use the included reusable filter. Add your desired amount of ground coffee. For best results, use medium-grind coffee.
- Place Carafe: Ensure the thermal carafe is empty and placed correctly on the warming plate.
- Select Brew Strength: Press the "Brew Strength" button to cycle through Regular or Bold options.
- Start Brewing: Press the "Brew Now I/O" button to begin brewing. The coffee maker will automatically shut off after brewing is complete.
- Programming Brew Time: To set a delayed brew time, press the "Set Time" button to set the current time. Then, press the "Prog" button and use the time adjustment buttons to set your desired brew start time. The coffee maker will automatically brew at the set time.

B. Brewing a Single Serve (Single-Serve Side)
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the lid on the single-serve side and pour fresh, cold water into the reservoir. The amount of water you add will be the amount brewed into your cup (up to 14 oz).
- Insert Pod or Grounds:
- For K-Cup Pods: Place a K-Cup pod into the single-serve pod holder.
- For Ground Coffee: Insert the reusable ground coffee filter into the single-serve area and add your desired amount of ground coffee.
- Place Cup/Mug: Place your coffee cup or travel mug on the drip tray. The drip tray can be removed to accommodate taller travel mugs (up to 7 inches).
- Start Brewing: Press the "Single" button to begin brewing. The coffee maker will automatically shut off after brewing is complete.

Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Trio Coffee Maker.
- Daily Cleaning:
- After each use, discard used coffee grounds or K-Cup pods.
- Wash the thermal carafe, lid, single-serve pod holder, and reusable ground coffee filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
- Wipe down the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
- Drip Tray: Periodically empty and clean the drip tray and its cover.
- Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal): Over time, mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker, affecting performance. Descale your coffee maker every 3-6 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Fill the water reservoir with 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts cold water.
- Place an empty carafe or large mug on the drip tray.
- Run a full brew cycle.
- After the cycle, turn off the coffee maker and let it sit for 20 minutes.
- Discard the vinegar solution.
- Run 2-3 cycles with fresh, cold water to rinse thoroughly.
