Installation typically requires basic hand tools. Refer to the included installation template for precise drilling instructions if installing on a new door. For replacement installations, ensure existing bore holes match the product specifications.

Required Tools (Not Included):

  • Phillips Head Screwdriver
  • Measuring Tape
  • Pencil
  • Drill (for new installations)

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Door: If installing on a new door, use the provided template to mark and drill the necessary holes for the latch and lever set. For existing doors, ensure the bore holes are clean and correctly sized.
  2. Install the Deadlatch: Insert the deadlatch mechanism into the edge bore hole of the door. Ensure the bevel of the latch bolt faces the door frame. Secure it with the provided screws.
  3. Install Exterior Lever: Place the exterior lever assembly through the cross bore hole, ensuring the spindle engages with the deadlatch mechanism.
  4. Install Interior Lever: Align the interior lever assembly with the exterior assembly and the deadlatch. Secure both lever assemblies together using the through-bolts or screws provided. Ensure the levers operate smoothly and the latch retracts fully.
  5. Install Strike Plate: Mark the position of the latch bolt on the door frame. Chisel out a recess for the strike plate and secure it with screws. Ensure the latch bolt engages properly with the strike plate when the door is closed.

6. Operating Instructions

The Cal-Royal CR-SL50-26D is an exit function lever set. Its operation is straightforward:

  • From the Interior: Simply depress the lever handle to retract the latch bolt and open the door. The door can always be opened from the inside for emergency egress.
  • From the Exterior: The exterior lever is fixed and does not retract the latch. This model does not allow key entry from the outside. The door can only be opened from the exterior if it is unlocked from the inside or if it is not latched.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the smooth operation and extends the lifespan of your lever set:

  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the satin chrome finish.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the latch bolt and internal mechanisms if you notice stiffness or friction. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust and grime.
  • Tightening Screws: Over time, mounting screws may loosen. Periodically check and tighten all visible screws to ensure the lever set remains securely attached to the door.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Cal-Royal CR-SL50-26D lever set, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
