Hydro Guard Dechlorinating Shower Filter with Shower Head (Chrome) Instruction Manual

Brand: Aqualux

Model: 43179-400192

1. Product Overview

The Hydro Guard Dechlorinating Shower Filter with Shower Head is designed to provide a healthier and more enjoyable showering experience by filtering out harmful chemicals from your tap water. This system easily attaches to your existing shower line without the need for special tools.

Its unique two-stage up-flow filter design incorporates coconut shell carbon and a KDF copper/zinc oxidation process. This combination effectively removes harsh chemicals such as chlorine, lead, pesticides, hydrogen sulfides, and other volatile organic compounds. The coconut shell carbon also works to improve the taste and smell of your water.

Benefits include softer, more moisturized skin, and shinier, healthier hair. It also helps reduce itchy skin or scalp, extends hair color, and reduces frizz and comb-ability. The filter adjusts the pH of the water and minimizes chlorine absorption through the skin and inhalation.

4. Setup and Installation

Installation of the Hydro Guard shower filter is designed to be simple and requires no special tools. Follow these steps for a quick setup:

  1. Prepare the Shower Area: Turn off the water supply to your shower. If you have an existing shower head, unscrew it from the shower arm by turning it counter-clockwise. Clean any residue or old Teflon tape from the threads of the shower arm.
  2. Install the Filter Unit: Take the Hydro Guard shower filter unit. Ensure the rubber washer is properly seated inside the filter's inlet (the end that connects to the shower arm). Screw the filter unit onto the shower arm by turning it clockwise until it is hand-tight. Do not overtighten.
  3. Attach the Shower Head: Ensure the rubber washer is properly seated inside the shower head's inlet. Screw the provided shower head onto the outlet of the filter unit by turning it clockwise until it is hand-tight. Do not overtighten.
  4. Check for Leaks: Turn on the water supply slowly and check for any leaks at the connections. If leaks occur, tighten slightly until they stop. If leaks persist, ensure washers are correctly seated and connections are aligned.
  5. Flush the Filter: Before first use, allow water to run through the shower head for 5-10 minutes to flush out any carbon fines or air from the filter. The water may appear cloudy initially; this is normal and will clear up.

  3. Unscrew the filter unit from the shower arm.
