4. Setup

Initial Setup and Power Connection

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the speaker and all accessories from the packaging.
  2. Placement: Place the speaker on a stable, flat surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the supplied power cable to the DC 13.5V input port on the speaker and then plug the other end into a standard AC power outlet. The internal rechargeable battery will begin charging.
  4. First Use: For optimal battery life, it is recommended to fully charge the speaker before its first use.

5. Operating Instructions

Basic Operations

  • Power On/Off: Press and hold the Power button on the front panel or the remote control to turn the speaker on or off.
  • Volume Control: Rotate the Volume knob on the front panel clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease. Alternatively, use the volume buttons on the remote control.
  • Input Selection: Press the Input button on the front panel or the remote control to cycle through available input sources: Bluetooth, USB, and Line In.
  • Play/Pause: In Bluetooth or USB mode, press the Play/Pause button on the front panel or remote to pause or resume playback.
  • Track Navigation: Use the Previous/Next track buttons on the front panel or remote to skip tracks in Bluetooth or USB mode.

Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Turn on the JVC RV-Y40 speaker.
  2. Press the Input button until the display shows "BT" or indicates Bluetooth mode. The speaker will enter pairing mode, and the Bluetooth indicator will flash.
  3. On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet, laptop), go to the Bluetooth settings and search for available devices.
  4. Select "JVC RV-Y40" from the list of found devices.
  5. Once paired, the speaker will confirm the connection, and the Bluetooth indicator will stop flashing and remain solid.
  6. You can now play audio from your device through the JVC RV-Y40 speaker.

USB Playback

  1. Insert a USB flash drive containing audio files (e.g., MP3) into the USB port on the front panel.
  2. The speaker should automatically switch to USB mode and begin playing the audio files. If not, press the Input button to select USB mode.
  3. Use the Play/Pause and track navigation buttons to control playback.

Line In (Auxiliary) Connection

  1. Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the LINE IN port on the speaker.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to the audio output (headphone jack) of your external audio device (e.g., TV, desktop, gaming console).
  3. Press the Input button to select Line In mode.
  4. Audio from your connected device will now play through the speaker. Control playback and volume primarily from your external device.

6. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the speaker. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Water Resistance: The JVC RV-Y40 is designed to be waterproof. However, avoid submerging the unit in water for extended periods or exposing it to high-pressure water jets. Ensure all port covers are securely closed before exposure to water.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the speaker in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Care: To maintain the life of the rechargeable battery, avoid fully discharging it frequently. Recharge the speaker regularly, even if not in active use.
