User Instruction Manual

Introduction

The AEG 5072 OBD2 Evolution Auto Diagnosis Tool is a professional diagnostic device designed to help you identify and resolve issues with your vehicle's engine and related systems. This tool allows you to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), view live data, and perform various diagnostic tests. It is compatible with most OBD II compliant vehicles, including petrol vehicles manufactured from 2000 onwards and diesel vehicles from 2003 onwards.

This manual provides detailed instructions on how to set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot your diagnostic tool to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Setup

Follow these steps to prepare your AEG 5072 diagnostic tool for first use:

  1. Locate the OBD II Port: The OBD II (On-Board Diagnostics II) port is typically located under the dashboard on the driver's side of your vehicle. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual if you cannot find it.
  2. Connect the Tool: With the vehicle's ignition off, firmly plug the OBD II connector of the AEG 5072 tool into your vehicle's OBD II port. Ensure a secure connection.
  3. Power On: Turn the vehicle's ignition to the 'ON' position (do not start the engine). The diagnostic tool will automatically power on and initiate communication with the vehicle's onboard computer.
  4. Language Selection: Upon first use or after a reset, you may be prompted to select your preferred language. Use the 'SCROLL' buttons to navigate and 'ENTER/EXIT' to confirm your selection. The tool supports French, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Dutch, and Finnish.

Key Functions:

  1. Read Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):

From the main menu, select 'Read Codes'. The tool will scan the vehicle's systems and display any stored DTCs. Each code will be accompanied by a brief description on the screen. For more detailed information, refer to the integrated CD which contains comprehensive manufacturer error code details.

  2. Erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):

After addressing the underlying issue that caused the DTC, you can clear the codes from the vehicle's computer. Select 'Erase Codes' from the menu. Confirm the action when prompted. Clearing codes will also turn off the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) or 'Check Engine' light. Note: Do not erase codes without resolving the underlying problem, as they will reappear.

  3. View Live Data:

Access real-time engine and vehicle information, such as engine RPM, vehicle speed, oxygen sensor readings, and more. This function is useful for diagnosing intermittent issues or verifying repairs.

  4. Vehicle Information:

Retrieve vehicle information such as Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), Calibration ID (CALID), and Calibration Verification Number (CVN).

  5. I/M Readiness Status:

Check the status of the vehicle's emission-related monitors to determine if the vehicle is ready for an emissions test.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliability of your AEG 5072 diagnostic tool:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the tool's exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the casing or screen.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the tool in its accommodation case in a clean, dry environment, away from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, and excessive dust.
  • Cable Care: Avoid bending or crimping the OBD II cable excessively. Always grasp the connector when plugging or unplugging it from the vehicle.
  • Software Updates: While the device operates independently, the integrated CD provides additional resources. Periodically check the manufacturer's website for any potential software updates for the PC application that may enhance the tool's capabilities or compatibility.
